How bout this? Since I'm virtually in the MPH chatroom every waking minute, whenever you have time, drop by and say hi (not during Mets games, no TV in my room). And remember, we'll have our first coordinated prospect chat TOMORROW from 630 to 10pm, and starting on the 27th, this page will go dark, everything will be kept up here, but there will be no new posts and no one checking the comments section here.

How bout we try to have a minor league gameday chat over on our new Java chat room? We'll slowly phase in the new site, in place of the chat boxes. Come on over to MetsProspectHub, and enter in a nickname in the Java applet, and join the fun. We'll start the chat at 7pm, and go until 9:25 (you guys can go til whenever, lol). If you use an IRC client, the server is www.freejavachat.com, and the channel is #MetsProspectHub. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Also, don't forget...PS: For those who are wondering, we will officially make the move to our new site on the 27th, when I return to doing the MLRs. This site/blog will not be deleted or removed, but it will be abandoned, no updates will occur here. Everyone who's developed a widget or RSS feed or whatever, update your information to point to the new site, which is HERE. While there are kinks left to be worked out over there, it's functional enough to the point where we feel comfortable in moving over there. As usual, email us (metsprospecthub@yahoo.com), Tweet at us (@MetsProspectHub), make use of our two chat boxes, or just comment this post, if you want to tell us something.

Edit: 3am (why am I still up????)

I've installed a fully functional Java chat room on the new site, you can register if you want to, but you don't have to. Reminder: The site goes completely live on 7/27, at which time this blog goes completely dark.

Sorry to the folks I was chatting with on the chat box...that's the perils of using a free chat box. Sorry guys...I was really enjoying the discussion :(

We have an experimental java chat room up on the new site right now, but we're working the kinks out of that. Come join us and laugh as we fix things. ;)

7/10 Minor League Report-Duda, Gee, Antonini, Carson, Marte, Vaughn!

7/10 Minor League Report

I was lazy tonight, so I just posted up box scores. Will be back with recaps tomorrow night.

I will say this however, Lucas Duda is an absolute monster. 3 for 4, hitting his 9th HR in Buffalo and continuing his power surge. Dillon Gee went 6.2 innings, giving up 3 ER but striking out 11 to only 1 walk. The lefties Mike Antonini and Robert Carson both had very solid outings. Jefry Marte showed a big stick tonight, going 3 for 5, with a triple and 2 HR's (5th and 6th of the season). Cory Vaughn also had a big night, hitting 2 HR of his own giving him 6 this season.

7/9 Minor League Report!

AAA: Buffalo game PPD

AA: Binghamton 2-New Hampshire 10
This was a 2-0 game until the 6th inning when Scott Shaw just absolutely crapped the bed, giving up 7 er in 0.2 ip. The game was out of reach from there. Captain Kirk continues to hit, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 27th(!!) double of the season. Kirk now leads the EL in doubles, XBH, and runs. Sean Ratliff and Josh Satin took 0-fers(0 for 4 each), and D.J. Wabick went 3 for 4 hitting 2 doubles. Eric Niesen didn't have a great outing, going 4.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 ER, walking 4 and striking out 3.

A+: St. Lucie 1-Fort Myers 3
Not a whole lot of offense in this one, but Ft. Myers did enough to squeak out the 3-1 victory. Jordany Valdespin went 1 for 3 and also walked once. Wilmer Flores continues his hot streak, going 2 for 4 with a double (4), however he also struck out twice. Carlos Beltran went 0 for 4, but more importantly played all 9 innings in the field for the 4th straight game. Brandon Moore pitched well enough for the win, going 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 ER, walking 4 and striking out 4, but was the tough luck loser in this one.

A: Savannah 6-Asheville 2
The Sand Gnats, led by reliever turned starter John Church kept Asheville at bay in this one, winning 6-2. Church went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 1 unearned run, walking 3 and striking out 5. He hasn't allowed an earned run in 3 starts so far, and moved to 5-0 on the season. Alonzo Harris went 2 for 4, with 1 RBI and walking once. Jefry Marte went 2 for 4, with both hits being doubles, giving him 17 on the season. Travis Ozga continues his hot streak, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 2nd HR. Wilfredo Tovar went 2 for 4, Nick Santomauro went 1 for 3, and Cesar Puello went 0 for 4.

Low A: Brooklyn 4-State College 2
Yohan Almonte was the story in this one, going 6.2 innings of shutout ball, giving up 3 hits, walking none and striking out 5 to get the W. Joe Bonfe went 2 for 3, hitting his 5th double on the year. Corey Vaughn went 1 for 4, Darrell Cecilliani went 0 for 3 with a walk, and J.B. Brown went 1 for 3.

Rookie: Kingsport 2-Bristol 3
Not much excitement in this one. ZeErika McQueen went 1 for 4 with 3 strikeouts, Ad. Rodriguez went 0 for 3, walking once and striking out twice, and Ja. Rod went 0 for 4. Gonzalez Germen pitched 5 innings of 5 hit ball, giving up 3 runs, 2 ER, walking 1, and striking out a season high 9.

7/8 Minor League Report-Kirk, Wilmer, Houck, Cecilliani, AD ROD!

AAA: Buffalo 7-Scranton/WB 10

Ramon Ortiz was cruising through 5, but the 6th inning proved the difference in the as he gave up 5 runs, couldn't finish the inning and wound up with the loss. Jorge Padilla went 3 for 5 and scored 2 runs. Fernando Martinez and Lucas Duda both went 1 for 5, lowering their averages to .256 and .321 on the season. Outside of that, not much to report.

AA: Binghamton 4-Altoona 3

Binghamton scored early, and it turned out to be enough as they held on to a 4-3 victory. Kirk Nieuwenhuis continues to hit the cover off the ball, going 2 for 5, hitting his 13th HR on the season. Sean Ratliff went 1 for 2, hitting his 9th double in AA and walking twice. Josh Stinson wasn't great, but did enough to get the W going 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits, 3 ER, walking 1 and striking out 3. Eddie Kunz came in to get 1 out and got his 3rd save on the season.

A+: St. Lucie 8-Ft. Myers 2  Cont. Game from yesterday

St. Lucie won the rain shortened game from yesterday 8-2, led by Wilmer Flores who went 3 for 5 hitting his 2nd double in St. Lucie. Stefan Welch 2 hits of his own, going 2 for 4 and raising his average to .297 on the season. Kai Gronauer went 3 for 3 and is hitting .400 since being promoted.
Scott Moviel picked up where Eric Beulac left off, and pitched 4 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 ER, walking 1 and striking out 2, he also got the save.

A+: St. Lucie 7-Ft. Myers 6

St. Lucie made a furious come back and scored 4 in the 9th to win 7-6 over Ft. Myers. Wilmer Flores only went 1 for 4 in the second game but hit his 3rd double and drove in 1 run, he also walked once. Carlos Beltran went 1 for 4, walked once and struck out once. Juan Lagares went 2 for 5, but is only hitting .194 since being promoted. Jeurys Familia had an Oliver Perez-esque start, going 3.2 innings, giving up 2 hits, 4 ER, walking 7 and striking out 3.

A: Savannah 11-Asheville 6

Savannah needed only 1 XBH in an 11-6 victory over Asheville Thursday, with the lone XBH being R.J. Harris' solo HR in the 1st. 5 guys had multiple hit games, including Pedro Zapata(2 for 6), Travis Ozga(2 for 5) and Dock Doyle(2 for 4). Cesar Puello went 0 for 2 but walked twice and scored 3 times. Nick Santomauro went 1 for 3 and drove in 2 runs. Taylor Whitenton got the W, pitching 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, walking 2 and striking out 3.

A-:Brooklyn 6-State College 2

Mitch Houck continues to pitch really well, going 6.2 innings, and giving up only 5 hits, 1 ER, walking 1 and striking out 8. The lefty moved to 3-0 and has a 0.99 ERA on the season. Darrell Cecilliani continues to torture NYPL pitching, going 3 for 4, scoring twice and raising his average on the season to .392. He also stole 3 bases, giving him 7 on the season. Joe Bonfe added 3 hits of his own, going 3 for 4. Cory Vaughn went hitless, going 0 for 4. His average is down to .250 after his nice start. J.B. Brown went 2 for 4 and hit his first triple of the season.

Rookie: Kingsport 8-Bristol 3

Kingsport scored 7 runs after the 7th inning and won going away 8-3. ZeErika McQueen went 2 for 4 scoring once and driving in 2, he also stole his 4th base of the season. His average is up to .370. Justin Schafer added 2 hits, going 2 for 5. Aderlin Rodriguez continues to show why he was considered one of the best bats in his IFA class a couple years ago, as he hit his 5th double and 2 HR's (7). He finished 3 for 5, scoring twice, driving in 5 runs, and raising his average to .292. Javier Rodriguez also continues to hit, going 3 for 5, all 3 hits being singles. Nelfi Zapata continues his slow start, but hit his 2nd double of the season, his average is down to .240 on the year. Jacob DeGrom had another good start after getting pounded his first outing. He went 5 innings, giving up 5 hits, 0 runs, walking 1 and striking out 3. Michael Weldon got the save(2).

7/7 Minor League Report-Jacobs, Duda, Nieuwenhuis, Satin, Ratliff!

AAA: Buffalo 6-Syracuse 2
Buffalo took care of Syracuse, using 4 HR's to power their way to victory. Accounting for 2 of the HR was Mike Jacobs, who went 2 for 5 and drove in 3 runs. Lucas Duda continues to show ridiculous power, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 8th HR as a member of the Bisons, and 14 on the season. Duda has hit 7 HR in the past 10 games. Pat Misch pitched a complete game to get the win, giving up 5 hits, 2 unearned runs, walking 1 and striking out 6.

AA: Binghamton 9-Altoona 6
Binghamton scored a run in the 9th to send the game into extra innings, and scored 3 more in the 10th to seal the victory. Leading the way was Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who continues to absolutely rake. He finished 3 for 5, with 2 more doubles (26) and a walk. In his last 10 games, Kirk is hitting .450/.500/.925/1.425 with 10 2b, 3 HR, 9 RBI and 1 SB. His average on the season is up to .301, and I don't think he is done quite yet. Nick Evans went 2 for 6 and hit his 15th HR on the season. Two other guys who continue to rake since being promoted are Josh Satin and Sean Ratliff. Satin went 3 for 6, all 3 of his hits were doubles (9 in AA), and is now hitting .330 in Binghamton. Ratliff went 4 for 6, adding 2 doubles of his own (8 in AA). All of a sudden, Binghamton's offense has to be considered one of the most potent in the league, as long as these guys continue to rake the way they have been. Kunz came in to close the game out and got his 2nd save of the season.

A+: St. Lucie 4-Fort Meyers 1. Suspended in the 5th inning
St. Lucie jumped out to an early lead, but the game was suspended in the 5th. I'm assuming they will continue tomorrow. Jordany Valdespin and Wilmer Flores both went 1 for 2, and both scored. Carlos Beltran hit a double and walked, scoring twice. Eric Beaulac was pitching a good game, going 5 innings of 6 hit ball, 1 ER, 0 BB and 4 K's.

A: Savannah 6-Rome 2
Savannah led the entire way, going on to win 6-2 over the Braves single A affiliate. Leading the way for Savannah, Cesar Puello went 1 for 2, walked twice and stole his 26th base of the season. Jefry Marte had another multi hit game, going 2 for 4 and hit his 15th double of the season. 2010 Draftee Jet Butler went 2 for 4, with a double and 2 runs scored. Alonzo Harris also went 2 for 4, hitting his 13th double of the season and driving in 2. Darin Gorski got the W, going 5 innings giving up 8 hits, 2 ER, walking 3 and striking out 4. Hitter turned pitcher Gabriel Zavala pitched 3 innings of no hit ball, striking out 5, making that 7 shutout innings on the season.

Rookie: Kingsport 2-Bristol 3
Kingsport couldn't muster up enough offense and fell 3-2 to the Bristol Sox. Not much offensive output to speak of, although Aderlin Rodriguez hit his 3rd double of the season, finishing 1 for 3 with an RBI. He has shown very nice power so far for an 18 year old. Javier Rodrgiuez went 1 for 4, hitting his 2nd triple on the season. His average now sits at .382 on the year. Justin Schafer went 2 for 4, and hit his 5th double of the season. Recently drafted Jeffrey Walters picked up the loss.

7/6 Minor League Report. Duda, Nieuwenhuis, Ratliff, Wilmer!

I tried out doing screen shots of the box score to see how it looks, copy pasting them will not work anymore. Some people liked being able to come here and view all the box scores in one place, so it is convenient but I also understand it doesn't provide anything outside of it, so I'll write a few paragraphs.
Let me know which you prefer. Or I can just do what Tej does, just let me know in the chat box or comments.

Buffalo lost a close game @ Syracuse 5-4. Lucas Duda continues to rake, collecting 3 more hits, 1 being a double (6) and adding 2 RBI. He is now hitting .319 on the season in Buffalo. Lujan came in with a 1 run lead in the 6th and promptly blew it, giving up 3 hits, and 2 earned runs in 1 inning of work. He also struck out 2. Manuel Alvarez, who has been pitching lights out this season, made his AAA debut and threw 2 shutout innings, giving up 1 hit, walking 1, and striking out 1.

Binghamton's offense continues to be a force, winning @ Altoona 11-6. Leading the 17 hit attack for Binghamton was a RED HOT Kirk Nieuwenhuis, going a perfect 4 for 4, with 1 double (24), 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored. His batting average on the season is up to .296, and he looks to be on one of those patented hot streaks we saw from him last season. Right behind him were Sean Ratliff and Nick Evans. Ratliff went 3 for 6, hitting 1 HR (7) and 4 RBI, raising his average to .315 in Binghamton on the season. Evans went 1 for 3, with the 1 hit being a solo HR (14). 2nd baseman Josh Satin added 3 hits of his own, and is now hitting .317 since being promoted. Mark Cohoon making his 3rd start in AA pitched 4 innings of 3 hit ball, giving up 2 ER, walking 2 and striking out 2. His era through 3 starts is 4.91.

St. Lucie took an early lead and held on to win at home 8-5 over Charlotte. The top story of the night in St. Lucie could be the performances of 2 major league players on rehab in Beltran and Perez, but the Wilmer Flores show headlines once again. Flores continues to rake High A pitching (maybe he actually was getting bored in Savannah?), going 4 for 5 with a double (1), scoring 2 runs and adding 2 more RBI. He is now hitting .431 in St. Lucie. Carlos Beltran played all 9 innings in the outfield and went 2 for 4, hitting a double of his own and walking once. Beltran should be close to being ready, and he should be a nice boost to the big league team for the 2nd half if he can stay healthy. Stefan Welch hit his 22nd double of the year, walked once but also struck out 3 times.
Oliver Perez made his 2nd rehab outing in St. Lucie, and was very effective. He pitched 5.2 innings, striking out 7, walking 3, and giving up 2 ER on just 2 hits. Much better outing than the first one, but I'm not exactly holding my breath that he will do much to help the big league team the rest of the way, anything positive he gives us is gravy at this point. Rhiner Cruz got his 3rd save.

Savannah gave up 5 runs in the 8th, blowing a 4 run lead and lost to Rome 7-6 at home. Caesar Puello went 1 for 4, and stole his 25th base of the season. Jefry Marte went 2 for 4 with a walk and an RBI, raising his average to .232 on the season. Nick Santomauro continues to struggle in Savannah, going 0 for 5 and striking out twice, lowering his average to a paltry .164 leading me to believe something may be wrong with him, physically or mentally. Colin McHugh had a very solid outing, going 6 innings he gave up 5 hits, 2 ER, walked 1 and struck out 9. His ERA is now 3.45 on the season.

Brooklyn's late rally came up short as they fell to Jamestown 7-5. Darrell Cecilliani hit his 7th double of the season, and is hitting .373. Might be time to swap him with Santomauro at some point. Cory Vaughn went 1 for 4, striking out twice and stealing his 4th base on the season.

Edit: D forgot Kport, lol (not really sure how he did that, since I post links on the blog for JUST that reason...lol)

The Mets had a 4 run 7th to ice the game, and Bret Mitchell was good again, for his 2nd win of the season. Justin Schafer, Aderlin Rodriguez, Albert Cordero and Nelfi Zapata had multi hit games, while ZeErika McQueen, Javier Rodriguez and Ray Van Gurp took 0-fers.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis may just be getting into one of his patented idiotic hot streaks, after 4 XBH yesterday, he had 3 more hits today, including 2 more doubles, leading the Mets to a 14 hit, 10 run attack and a 10-8 victory. The Mets also had 2 walks, while striking out 4 times, and were 7 for 17 (.412) with RISP and left 8 on base. Nieuwenhuis, Sean Ratliff and Mike Nickeas had 3 hit games, while Raul Reyes had another multi hit game, his 6th in 12 games with Binghamton. Nick Evans and Jon Malo (0 for 4, run, RBI, .222) took 0-fers.

Roy Merritt got the win with 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, after Eric Niesen and Eddie Kunz got torched for 8 runs between them, 4 each. Niesen in 1.2 innings, and Kunz in 3.2 innings. Come Rule V time, the Mets should consider DFAing Eddie Kunz, he's a BUST of a prospect, so much for the quick moving reliever idea in 2007 (haha).

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie

The game was suspended in the top of the 8th with Charlotte ahead 6-0. Robert Carson was awesome again, giving up 3 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits in 7 innings, but unless the Met rally, he'll get tagged with his 5th loss of the season. He threw 89 pitches, 64 for strikes. 4Carson's kicked it into another gear over his last 7 starts, he's gone at least 7 innings in 4 of the 7, and had gone 3-2 (counting his outing tonight as a loss) with a 3.67 era in 41.2 innings, and a 11/35 BB/K ratio. Over his last 5 outings, he's given up 10 earned in 32.1 innings, for a 2.78 era, and a 7/28 BB/K ratio.

A South Atlantic League: Savannah 1/3/1, Rome 0/4/1

John Church had his best professional outing to date, with a 4 hit shutout over 7 innings for his 4th win of the season, and Michael Powers notched his 10th save with a perfect 9th. The Gnats had just 3 hits and a 3/6 BB/K, but it was enough tonight. They went 2 for 8 with RISP and left 6 on base.
