4/27 Minor League Report!
Question for everyone, how many of you are reading this on Google Reader right now? I use the colors to a) seperate each game by highlighting the linescore, and b) highlight the players of the night, which I didn't used to do, and I think it does make a big difference if you read it on the blog proper, but if most of you guys use Reader...I'll try and work with you to choose some colors which don't give that app problems. Comment this post, use the chat box, or tweet at me.

Dillon Gee had his first bad outing of the season, and it was a doozy, as he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 4.2 innings, but the Bisons offense responded with 5 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 3 in the 8th to take him off the hook and get a win for Kiko Calero, who pitched in back of Gee and allowed 2 hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. John Lujan picked up his 2nd save with 2 scoreless.
Chris Carter and Mike Cervanek (0 for 4, .230) took 0-fers, while Jason Pridie, Jesus Feliciano, Mike Hessman, and Ruben Tejada each had 2 hit games to lead an 11 hit, 4 walk attack by Buffalo. The Bisons were 4 for 11 (.364) with RISP and left 8 on base and only struck out twice.

Boy, this BMets lineup just doesn't look the same without Nick Evans in it, and while I'm at it, reallllly missing Reese Havens, huh? Still haven't heard anything on Reese, but Evans is out with the dreaded oblique muscle injury.

Boy, this BMets lineup just doesn't look the same without Nick Evans in it, and while I'm at it, reallllly missing Reese Havens, huh? Still haven't heard anything on Reese, but Evans is out with the dreaded oblique muscle injury. DJ Wabick and Jose Coronado had the lone hits for the BMets, who were 0 for 7 with RISP and left 5 on base, while walking twice (both Tiberius) and striking out 5 times. Michael Antonini started and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings (easily his best outing of the season) but he took the tough loss. 4/26 Minor League Report!

Six Gnat errors led to 4 unearned runs tonight, not that that mattered much, as the pitching staff gave up plenty on their own (mostly the first two pitchers). Brandon Moore took the loss after giving up 6 hits and 6 runs (4 earned) in 3 innings. After Lance Hoge was equally terrible (4 runs, 2 earned on 7 hits in 2 innings), Collin McHugh came in and pitched very well, giving up just a run on 5 hits in 4 innings, but it was way too little, way too late (he should've tried hitting a pair of grand slams, lol).
The Gnats offense had 11 hits and drew a pair of walks, but were a woeful 1 for 16 (.056) with RISP and left a dozen on base, while striking out 10 times, including 3 by Wilmer, which raised his K total by 50% (from 6 to 9). Manuel Alvarez escaped 10th inning trouble, then pitched a scoreless 11th to pick up the win, his 2nd. Jeff Flagg had a walkoff single today, after Wilmer Flores was walked with 1st and 3rd, 1 out in the 9th to load the bases. The Mets need to get someone behind Wilmer to prevent this sort of thing, because Jeff Flagg's .217 isn't cutting it. Pedro Zapata, Flagg, Dock Doyle and Alex Gregory had multi hit games, while Jefry Marte, Cesar Puello and Alonzo Harris took 0-fers. The Gnats were 3 for 11 (.273) with RISP, left 9 on base, and struck out 7 times, while walking thrice. Stefan Welch and Richard Lucas hit back to back homers in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at 4, and then Lucas stroked a walkoff single in the bottom of the 11th to win it for the Mets, 5-4. Sean Ratliff, as well as Welch and Lucas, had multi hit games, while Matt Bouchard (0 for 5, K, .192), Eric Campbell (0 for 5, .250), Raul Reyes (0 for 3, BB, .176), and Jean Luc Blaquiere (0 for 4, K, .225) took 0-fers. Nice, huh? Jean Luc is hitting .225, and Kirk is hitting .321, further proving that Kirk > Jean Luc ;)
Jeurys Familia started today and had his best outing of the season, going 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings, but he took a ND. Manuel Alvarez escaped 10th inning trouble, then pitched a scoreless 11th to pick up the win, his 2nd. Rhiner Cruz allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks in back of Familia, Cruz has struggled mightily, posting an ugly 6.55 era through 6 APPs (10.1 innings).

Mark Cohoon started the game and was pretty good, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings, but he got a ND after Brandon Sage blew the game. Sage picked up a vulture win.

Stinson went 4.2 stellar innings, allowing just 2 hits and a walk to pick up his second win of the season. Derrick Ellison escaped a bases loaded jam for his first save.

He had the only multi hit game, while a big swath in the middle of the order (3 through 7) took 0-fers, combining to go 0 for 16 with 3 walks. Kyle Allen took the mound tonight with a purpose, win, and he did, scattering 3 hits and 2 walks over 5 innings, allowing 2 runs, and picking up his second win of the season. Just before this report was posted, I received word that Kyle would like to dedicate tonight's victory to his grandfather, who is battling cancer in a Houston hospital. Of course, we here at MPH send out our well wishes to Grandpa Allen and hope for a speedy recovery. Kyle would also like to say that his goal this season is to beat other teams the same way his grandfather is going to beat this cancer.
Manuel Alvarez picked up his fifth save of the season with a scoreless 9th. The Mets offense backed Kyle with 9 hits and 7 walks, though they did strike out 11 times, go a putrid 3 for 15 (.200) with RISP, and leave 11 on base. Josh Stinson had another excellent long relief outing tonight in back of Eric Niesen, who, for some reason, went just 1.1 innings tonight (he gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks). Stinson went 4.2 stellar innings, allowing just 2 hits and a walk to pick up his second win of the season. Derrick Ellison escaped a bases loaded jam for his first save.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis had another big night (no, not 5 hits, he can't do that everyday!), with 2 hits and a walk, leading the BMets attack. He had the only multi hit game, while a big swath in the middle of the order (3 through 7) took 0-fers, combining to go 0 for 16 with 3 walks. Nick Evans, Lucas Duda, Zach Lutz, Brahiam Maldondo, Mike Nickeas (0 for 2, .150), and Luke Montz (0 for 2, .200) all took 0-fers.
The top 2 in the order, Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 3, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, .263), and Matt Bouchard (0 for 5, 2 Ks, .118) took 0-fers, along with Eric campbell (0 for 4, run, .256), and Richard Lucas. Dillon Gee wasn't as sharp today as he was in his first two starts, and he still only allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 5 innings, and picked up his 3rd win. Bobby Parnell pitched very well tonight, as well, with 3 innings of 1 hit shutout relief.
The Bisons offense hammered out 15 hits and drew 3 walks, while going 8 for 16 with RISP, leaving 8 on base, and striking out 11 times. Jason Pridie, who is worlds better then the totally worthless Gary Matthews Jr, had a 3 hit game today. He, Chris Carter (who is infinitely better then the worthless Frank Catalanotto), Jesus Feliciano (also better then GMJ) and Andy Green (who might give Alex Cora a run for his overpaid contract) also had multi hit games. Mike Hessman (0 for 4, BB, K, .298) took the only 0-fer.

The Mets offense had 10 hits and drew 3 walks, but struck out 9 times and were hitless in 7 ABs with RISP, while leaving 10 on base. Nick Evans snapped a 6 game hitting streak with an 0 for 4. 4/18 Minor League Report
I apologize for the downtime on MPH last night, and the lack of the MLR on MetsMerized and NYFS, I was out helping a friend move, I thought I'd be done by 5pm, but I ended up getting home at 10 of 2 in the morning. At that point, I could barely keep my eyes open, let alone write up an article. As for the Gameday Links on MPH - I left home at 10am after waking up at 9:30am, so I didn't have time to throw them up. Sorry.
AAA International League: Buffalo 3/12/1, Scranton 4/11/0 in 10 innings
