The New York Mets announced today that they have signed nine of their 42 draft picks from the 2007 First Year Player Draft, including second round selection righthanded pitcher Scott Moviel from St. Edward High School (OH), and third baseman Richard Lucas, the club’s fourth round selection from Wolfson Senior High School (FL). New York also signed their 12th round pick righthanded pitcher William Morgan from Lewis-Clark State College (ID), outfielder Christopher Fournier, the 16th round pick from George Mason University (VA), the 20th round selection righthanded pitcher Dylan Owen from Francis Marion University (SC), righthanded pitcher Dillon Gee, the club’s 21st round pick from the University of Texas-Arlington, the 23rd round pick catcher Norberto Navarro from Pasco Hernando Community College (FL), righthanded pitcher Bradley Burns, the 26th round selection from the University of Oklahoma and a 38th round selection outfielder Brandon Kawal from Concordia University (CA).
Burns will be assigned to Kingsport ® of the Appalachian League. Morgan, Fournier, Owen, Gee and Kawal will report to Brooklyn (A) of the New York-Penn League. Moviel, Lucas and Navarro will join the rookie-level Gulf Coast Mets.
