  1. what do you guys think about fmarts winter league season? the stats are very good, and even the splits (although a couple of days ago he had bad splits and i checked this morning and there were even again so maybe a big game against a lefty helped his splits). has anyone caught any of the games? the dominican winter league is the best one but i dont know how good it is right now. i know that teams stack their rosters close to playoff time so we'll see what happens.

  2. also forgot to say his other peripherals are good. his k/bb ratio is good, 2:1 (14:28). he strikes out about once every 5 plate appearances and walks once in every 10 AB. i dont know that much about stats so does anyone know if that k/ab, bb/ab, or k/bb ratio is good?

  3. It's getting there, I think people forget he's just 20 years old.

I'd equate the DWL to AA+/AAA-. It's fringy AAA, IMO.

I think for the first time since Hagerstown, we're seeing just how much of an offensive juggarnaut Fernando Martinez is. If he's healthy in 2009, he is going to abuse the IL, just flat out abuse it.

He's not striking out all that much down there, he just had a 3 K game, which does throw off the numbers a bit with a small sample size (138 ABs). His K rate in 2007 in AA was .216, it was .207 this year in AA, and with Escogido, it's .203. That's right around DW territory, 116 in 550 ABs, for the type of hitter we think Fernando is going to be, that's not bad at all.

He'll learn to walk more in time, too.
