18. From Atlanta for Tom Glavine
22. Mets 1st round pick
33. Sandwich 1st rounder - for Type A FA Tom Glavine
From what I've read, the sandwich round should be around 21 picks, meaning that the Mets next pick should be 22nd from 52 (2nd round - 74). I could be wrong, however.

If the Mets sign Livan or Silva would they lose that supplemental pick?
ReplyDeleteNo both are type B free agents. We would not lose any picks for signing them. However, their respective teams would recieve a compensation pick if they are signed
ReplyDeletewhy didnt we offer arbitration to lo duca? wouldnt we have gotten another draft pick?
ReplyDeleteYeah we would've. I don't know why we didn't. I guess out of fear that he would accept.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know about the newsday article from yesterday, about drafting in the slot and not giving big bonuses that the mets were trying to abide by and now won't anymore?
ReplyDeleteBasically what it said.
ReplyDeleteThe commish has set up this system of recommendations for each pick in the first 5 rounds. For example, if you're picked at #45, there is a specific recommendation that the commish's office has for how much you should be paid.
Some clubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Angels basically tell the commish to fuck himself. While others, including our Mets, adhere to the recommendations.
And as for the "won't anymore" part, we've heard it before, most recently before the 07 draft. So we will see if they mean it this time during the 08 draft or if it's just blowing smoke.
In fact, here's a NYFS thread about that very topic:
