Discussion Question

There was a ton of breakout prospects in the system this year, most notably, Daniel Murphy, but there was also some guys who didn't have that type of season we had hoped for.

So, I ask you, which player in the Mets farm system disappointed you this year?

  1. Ruben Tejada. I thought he was supposed to be a bigtime prospect. Now with even more higly regarded middle infielding coming up (Wilmer, Reese, Veloz, etc), I think he's going to have to prove himself. Quickly. Yes, I know he's only 18, but hitting less than .220 of what ever it was is not excusable. He better be a defensive whiz.

  2. That's a good one. Though, I have to say, I'm more concerned with his weight than his .220 average.

  3. That's pretty funny. 18 year old Ruben Tejada who made a 3 level jump is your biggest disappointment. All righty then.

  4. Tejada was 'over' matched in his development in the FSL. I agree with disappointment, but I think a better word would have been, misclassification led to disappointing season for Tejada. He should have been in SAL and if he progressed then FSL.

  5. Bullseye.

I'm disappointed in the idiots and morons running the minor league system. Why was Ruben Tejada needlessly rushed up 3 levels? I have a sinking feeling he's gonna be "Anderson Hernandezed" - and be in Binghamton, next season.

  8. Even though he heated up a little at the end, Ike Davis has been pretty disappointing.

  9. First year players need not apply. Let them get, ahem, adjusted to wood.

    This:
    1. Nick Carr
    2. Brahaiam Maldonado
    3. Eric Niesen
    4. Lucas Duda

Is a solid list. Although I was under the impression I was the only person who expected a solid season from Carr. But yeah - he had a terrible one. Good last 4 outings to build on for 09, and you'd expect/hope he would be in Hawaii again this winter, unless the organization wants to give him what...6+ months off.

  10. No doubt Maldonado I thought he was going to really strut his stuff after the great second half the year before . He did have injury problems at the beginning of the year that might have put a damper on his whole season . He IMHO is someone to watch closely next year if he gets out of the gate quickly then it might have been the injury that led to his bad season . I am not ready to give up on him yet .
