Gee, 22, was 4-0 with a 2.22 era in 10 starts, spanning 48.2 innings. He allowed 43 hits and 13 walks, while striking out 43.
Gee excelled in St. Lucie for the Mets, going 8-6 with a 3.25 era, then going 2-0 in 4 AA starts, with a 1.33 era. Look for Gee to open 2009 in Buffalo off a strong winter showing.

Where does Gee project to fit in the rotation, if at all?
ReplyDeleteWhere does Stoner project?
Stoner is probably a 4/5 or a bullpen guy. He's got very good control to go along with fringe/average stuff, he could settle into a 6th/7th inning role as a reliever.
ReplyDeleteGee - that one's trickier. He's got average+ stuff, really good command, and has done extremely well throughout his minor league career, including Puerto Rico. Conventional wisdom would say 4 starter, but the sum of his parts may be greater then the whole. He could end up being a borderline 3.
I heard Wharten compare him to Rick Reed only nastier. Average to above average fastball but he already can and does throw 4 pitches for strikes.
