The Mets have signed 30 year old Tim Redding to a 1 year 2.25 million dollar contract. Redding was 10-11 with a 4.95 ERA in 182 innings for the Nationals last year.
~Lowe and Ollie just wasn't going to happen, and when the other alternative is Pedro Martinez, Tim Redding is the right answer. He won't blow you away, but he'll do what a fifth starter is supposed to do; keep you in the game and make his starts.
I figured that the Mets would wait to sign Redding or possibly Randy Wolf until after they signed Lowe/Perez to try and get more balance in the rotation.
