Eric Brown won't set the Binghamton record for losses in 2009, he tied it at 14 a few weeks ago, and since doing so, has won his last 2 outings, including tonight.

The Mets offense hammered out 13 hits and 3 walks, beating up on Tim Alderson again this season. They went 5 for 11 (.455) with RISP and left 6 on base. Kirk Nieuwenhuis (2, of course he did!), DJ Wabick (2), Emmanuel Garcia (2) and Salvador Paniagua (3) had multi hit games, while Mark Kiger (0 for 1, run, BB, K, .225 - took over for Ruben Tejada who left the game in the 4th, no reason given), and Carlos Guzman (0 for 3, run, BB, K, .250) took 0-fers.

Five players had multi hit games as the Mets poured across 8 runs on 14 hits and 2 walks, and won the opener of a twinight doubleheader over the Cardinals, 8-7. Reese Havens (2), Josh Satin (2), Sean Ratliff (3), Francisco Pena (2) and Brahiam Maldonado (2) had multi hit games, while Richard Pena (0 for 2, run, BB, .212) took the only 0-fer. Pena is 3 for his last 26. The Mets went 8 for 17 (.471) with RISP and left 7 on base.

Scott Shaw was not effective in his final outing of the season, he gave up 7 runs (4 earned, Josh Satin error) on 8 hits, over 5.2 innings. Manuel Alvarez stranded the tying run on base and picked up his 9th save with a 4 outer.

After losing half their lineup, you'd think the Mets wouldn't put up runs in bunches, right? Wrong. Josh Satin (2), and Brahiam Maldonado (2) had multi hit games in the nightcap, leading a 9 hit, 4 walk attack as the Mets swept the Cardinals today, winning the nightcap 8-4. Scott Moviel pitched well enough (4 runs, 2 earned in 5.1 innings) to pick up the win. Josh Stinson picked up the save with a 5 outer.

Kyle Allen had a very good outing to end what can only be called a banner first full season. Allen finishes the year with a 3.45 era and 9 wins, though the Gnats defense likely cost him 3-5 more (as it cost every starter). Still, Allen had an A+ first full season. Tonight, he was (as happened alot) denied a win by his defense and bullpen. He gave up 3 hits and an UER in 5 innings, while walking a pair and striking out 6. Mike Lynn took the loss after allowing an UER in the 9th.

The Gnats offense had 7 hits and drew 4 walks, while going just 2 for 11 (.182) with RISP and leaving 7 on base. Wilmer Flores (2) and Nick Giarraputo (2) had multi hit games, while Alonzo Harris (0 for 4, 3 Ks, .176, E (1)), Raul Reyes (0 for 4, K, .249), Juan Lagares (0 for 3, run, BB, K, .273), and Luis Alen (0 for 3, BB, .143) all took 0-fers.

The Conies offense had just 5 hits and 2 walks, while going 0 for 6 with RISP and leaving 4 on base.
