Kirk Nieuwenhuis had one of his patented video game games today with 4 XBH (3 2b and a HR), though he did also strike out for the 70th time this season, against 20 walks in 278 ABs. He, Raul Reyes and Jose Coronado had multi hit games, while Marshall Hubbard (0 for 4, run, RBI, BB, K, .243) and Jon Malo (0 for 4, K, .230) took 0-fers. Josh Stinson gave up 3 runs over 5.1 innings, but picked up his 5th win nonetheless. Overall, the Mets had 12 hits and a 3/6 BB/K, while going 5 for 13 (.385) with RISP and leaving 7 on base.

Jeurys Familia was in trouble in virtually every inning, and yet somehow managed to escape every jam he created, crafting 5 shutout innings, despite giving up 4 hits and 5 walks, he got his 2nd win of the season. Angel Calero, fresh off a 50 game suspension for steroids, fired 2 shutout innings in relief. The Mets had 11 hits and a 1/6 BB/K, while going 4 for 10 with RISP and leaving 7 on base. Jordany Valdespin and Carlos Beltran took 0-fers, while Stefan Welch, Juan Lagares and Rafael Fernandez had multi hit games.

Taylor Whitenton only gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings, but took the loss as the offense starved Gnats (having lost Wilmer, Lagares, Gronauer and Michael Fisher since the break) managed just a run on 6 hits with a 3/8 BB/K. The Gnats were just 1 for 4 with RISP and left 3 on base. Wilfredo Tovar had the only multi hit game.

Darrell Ceciliani snapped a 9 game hitting streak (he'd gone 17 for 33 over the 9 games), but he did reach base for the 10th straight game, and stole his 3rd base of the season. Cory Vaughn also took an 0-fer, and Yohan Almonte suffered his 2nd loss, despite giving up just 2 runs (1 earned) over 5.2 innings.

Gonzalez Germen got CRUSHED for 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits in 3.2 innings for his 2nd loss of the season, and the Mets bullpen made sure the game was out of reach, thanks to an Aderlin Rodriguez error, by giving up 7 of their own (all Orlando Tovar, only 1 earned). The Mets offense had 14 hits and a 1/8 BB/K, while going 4 for 15 (.267) with RISP and leaving 11 on base. Ismael Tijernia, ZeErika McQueen, Javier Rodriguez and Nelfi Zapata had multi hit games, while Aderlin took the only 0-fer.
