AAA: Buffalo 6-Syracuse 2
Buffalo took care of Syracuse, using 4 HR's to power their way to victory. Accounting for 2 of the HR was Mike Jacobs, who went 2 for 5 and drove in 3 runs. Lucas Duda continues to show ridiculous power, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 8th HR as a member of the Bisons, and 14 on the season. Duda has hit 7 HR in the past 10 games. Pat Misch pitched a complete game to get the win, giving up 5 hits, 2 unearned runs, walking 1 and striking out 6.
AA: Binghamton 9-Altoona 6
Binghamton scored a run in the 9th to send the game into extra innings, and scored 3 more in the 10th to seal the victory. Leading the way was Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who continues to absolutely rake. He finished 3 for 5, with 2 more doubles (26) and a walk. In his last 10 games, Kirk is hitting .450/.500/.925/1.425 with 10 2b, 3 HR, 9 RBI and 1 SB. His average on the season is up to .301, and I don't think he is done quite yet. Nick Evans went 2 for 6 and hit his 15th HR on the season. Two other guys who continue to rake since being promoted are Josh Satin and Sean Ratliff. Satin went 3 for 6, all 3 of his hits were doubles (9 in AA), and is now hitting .330 in Binghamton. Ratliff went 4 for 6, adding 2 doubles of his own (8 in AA). All of a sudden, Binghamton's offense has to be considered one of the most potent in the league, as long as these guys continue to rake the way they have been. Kunz came in to close the game out and got his 2nd save of the season.
A+: St. Lucie 4-Fort Meyers 1. Suspended in the 5th inning
St. Lucie jumped out to an early lead, but the game was suspended in the 5th. I'm assuming they will continue tomorrow. Jordany Valdespin and Wilmer Flores both went 1 for 2, and both scored. Carlos Beltran hit a double and walked, scoring twice. Eric Beaulac was pitching a good game, going 5 innings of 6 hit ball, 1 ER, 0 BB and 4 K's.
A: Savannah 6-Rome 2
Savannah led the entire way, going on to win 6-2 over the Braves single A affiliate. Leading the way for Savannah, Cesar Puello went 1 for 2, walked twice and stole his 26th base of the season. Jefry Marte had another multi hit game, going 2 for 4 and hit his 15th double of the season. 2010 Draftee Jet Butler went 2 for 4, with a double and 2 runs scored. Alonzo Harris also went 2 for 4, hitting his 13th double of the season and driving in 2. Darin Gorski got the W, going 5 innings giving up 8 hits, 2 ER, walking 3 and striking out 4. Hitter turned pitcher Gabriel Zavala pitched 3 innings of no hit ball, striking out 5, making that 7 shutout innings on the season.
Rookie: Kingsport 2-Bristol 3
Kingsport couldn't muster up enough offense and fell 3-2 to the Bristol Sox. Not much offensive output to speak of, although Aderlin Rodriguez hit his 3rd double of the season, finishing 1 for 3 with an RBI. He has shown very nice power so far for an 18 year old. Javier Rodrgiuez went 1 for 4, hitting his 2nd triple on the season. His average now sits at .382 on the year. Justin Schafer went 2 for 4, and hit his 5th double of the season. Recently drafted Jeffrey Walters picked up the loss.
