7/9 Minor League Report!

AAA: Buffalo game PPD

AA: Binghamton 2-New Hampshire 10
This was a 2-0 game until the 6th inning when Scott Shaw just absolutely crapped the bed, giving up 7 er in 0.2 ip. The game was out of reach from there. Captain Kirk continues to hit, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 27th(!!) double of the season. Kirk now leads the EL in doubles, XBH, and runs. Sean Ratliff and Josh Satin took 0-fers(0 for 4 each), and D.J. Wabick went 3 for 4 hitting 2 doubles. Eric Niesen didn't have a great outing, going 4.2 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 ER, walking 4 and striking out 3.

A+: St. Lucie 1-Fort Myers 3
Not a whole lot of offense in this one, but Ft. Myers did enough to squeak out the 3-1 victory. Jordany Valdespin went 1 for 3 and also walked once. Wilmer Flores continues his hot streak, going 2 for 4 with a double (4), however he also struck out twice. Carlos Beltran went 0 for 4, but more importantly played all 9 innings in the field for the 4th straight game. Brandon Moore pitched well enough for the win, going 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 1 ER, walking 4 and striking out 4, but was the tough luck loser in this one.

A: Savannah 6-Asheville 2
The Sand Gnats, led by reliever turned starter John Church kept Asheville at bay in this one, winning 6-2. Church went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 1 unearned run, walking 3 and striking out 5. He hasn't allowed an earned run in 3 starts so far, and moved to 5-0 on the season. Alonzo Harris went 2 for 4, with 1 RBI and walking once. Jefry Marte went 2 for 4, with both hits being doubles, giving him 17 on the season. Travis Ozga continues his hot streak, going 2 for 4 and hitting his 2nd HR. Wilfredo Tovar went 2 for 4, Nick Santomauro went 1 for 3, and Cesar Puello went 0 for 4.

Low A: Brooklyn 4-State College 2
Yohan Almonte was the story in this one, going 6.2 innings of shutout ball, giving up 3 hits, walking none and striking out 5 to get the W. Joe Bonfe went 2 for 3, hitting his 5th double on the year. Corey Vaughn went 1 for 4, Darrell Cecilliani went 0 for 3 with a walk, and J.B. Brown went 1 for 3.

Rookie: Kingsport 2-Bristol 3
Not much excitement in this one. ZeErika McQueen went 1 for 4 with 3 strikeouts, Ad. Rodriguez went 0 for 3, walking once and striking out twice, and Ja. Rod went 0 for 4. Gonzalez Germen pitched 5 innings of 5 hit ball, giving up 3 runs, 2 ER, walking 1, and striking out a season high 9.
