6/3 Minor League Report!

AAA International League: Buffalo 1/5/2, Syracuse 7/10/0

Steven Strasburg held the Bisons to just 3 hits and a walk today, while flashing off his 3 pitch arsenal of doom. Dillon Gee wasn't up to the task of matching the future ace, though he pitched well, giving up 7 hits and a walk in 6 innings, along with 5 runs (only 2 earned, 2 Mike Jacobs' errors), he took his second loss.

Michael Antonini had a very solid outing today, giving up just a run on 6 hits in 6.1 innings, but he took a ND. Manuel Alvarez, despite not pitching well (a run in 0.2 innings) picked up his 2nd EL victory. Roy Merritt worked 2 hitless innings for his 4th save. The Mets offense managed just 5 hits and 4 walks, but struck out just 5 times, while going 1 for 5 with RISP and leaving 6 on base. Kirk Nieuwenhuis had the lone multi hit game for the Mets, while Reese Havens, Nick Evans, Lucas Duda, Mike Nickeas (0 for 3, BB, .289), and Eric Campbell all took 0-fers.

A South Atlantic League: Savannah 2/7/2, Asheville 1/6/1 in 11 innings

Wilmer Flores snapped out of a LONG slump today with 2 doubles, including a walkoff in the bottom of the 11th, as the Gnats won yet another extra inning game, this one 2-1 in 11 innings. Jim Fuller pitched very well again, with 7 innings of 4 hit ball, giving up just an UER. Michael Powers pitched the final 2 innings to pick up his 2nd win. The Gnats offense had just 7 hits and 3 walks in 11 innings, while striking out 11 times, and going 2 for 7 (.286) with RISP, and leaving 6 on base. Wilmer and Rafael Fernandez had multi hit games, while Jefry Marte, Nick Santomauro, Cesar Puello, Luis Rivera (0 for 4, K, .189) and Dock Doyle (0 for 2, run, 2 BBs, .159) took 0-fers.
