It's a new thing we're doing here at MPH. Since we don't exactly fill the pages with in depth analysis, this is your chance to ask us about certain prospects, or happenings down on the farm. The email address is metsprospecthub@yahoo.com, and please leave your name, town and state. This'll be a weekly thing, unless we're so overwhelmed with questions, that we have to do it bi-weekly.
Only one question this week, Tony from Clark, New Jersey asks:
What’s happening with Shawn Bowman? Is he hurt again?
Yes, unfortunatly, Shawn is hurt again. It seems the back flared up once again, for the third year in a row. It is very unfortunate what has happened to Bowman, who showed plus raw power in St. Lucie during the 2005 season, slugging 17 homers and 15 doubles in 87 games in the pitching friendly Florida State League. Bowman also had and outstanding glove, and more then one prospect ranking organization forsaw him eventually forcing David Wright to first base.
Bowman did not hit for any average during his minor league career, but we may never know how much of that was related to his back injuries. At this point, his future as a baseball player is very much up in the air.
