7/13 Minor League Report! TEJADA, HOLT, Beaulac, HARRIS!

Binghamton 14, New Britain 1

Not sure what the bigger story is, the Mets putting a severe beat down on the Rock Cats, or Brad Holt's 7 shutout innings, but either way, it was a good afternoon for the BMets. The Mets hammered out 16 hits and drew 7 walks en route to dismantling the Rock Cats 14-0, and Brad Holt struck out 7 over 7 shutout innings for his first EL victory.

Five players, Emmanuel Garcia (3), Josh Petersen (3), Jose Coronado (2), Ruben Tejada (3), and Mike Nickeas (3), had multi hit games, while Ike Davis (0 for 5, run, RBI, BB, K, .256) took the only 0-fer. The Mets were a stellar 12 for 22 (.545) with RISP, while they left 8 on base.

Scott Moviel didn't get nearly the run support his 3 predecessors did, and he himself had a meh outing (due to the length) so took his second loss. Josh Stinson had his first rough outing in the FSL, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits in just 0.2 innings, putting the game out of reach.

The Mets had just 7 hits and a run tonight, while going 0-fer with RISP (0 for 8), leaving 6 on base. Carlos Guzman (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .257), Seth Williams (0 for 4, .281), and Rafael Arroyo (0 for 3, .086) took 0-fers. while Greg Veloz (2) had the only multi hit game.

Eric Beaulac had a fantastic outing today, the best of his pro career, giving up just 3 runs on 5 hits in 8 innings, but the Gnats couldn't push the tying run across, despite 2 warning track/fence blasts by Wilmer Flores.

The Gnats offense garnered 9 hits and 3 walks, but were just 2 for 12 (.167) with RISP, and left 11 on base. Raul Reyes (2) and Wilmer Flores (2) had multi hit games, while Josh Satin (0 for 5, 4 Ks, .296) and Sean Ratliff (0 for 4, K, .266) took 0-fers.

Angel Cuan's disasterous 2009 continued tonight, with another 4 runs given up in 6 innings. Cuan is now a combined 0-3 in 5 starts between Brooklyn and Kingsport, and has given up 17 earned runs in 23.2 innings (6.46 era). Oscar Melendez gave up 3 runs (2 earned) in 1.1 innings, Sam Taveras and Bobby Gagg pitched 1.2 scoreless to finish it off for Kingsport.

The Mets offense had 11 hits and a walk, while going just 2 for 9 (.222) with RISP, leaving 5 on base. Alonzo Harris (3), Pedro Zapata (2) and Juan Torres (2) had multi hit games, while John Semel (0 for 3, .259), Jeff Flagg (0 for 4, K, .383), and John Freeman (0 for 3, K, .163) took 0-fers.
