The Mets ran into Madison Bumgarner tonight, and Bumgarner ran into a baseball, clubbing a grandslam off Eric Niesen, part of a 5 hit, 5 walk, 6 run barrage against the Mets lefty, dropping him to 1-5 in the EL. Bumgarner, one of the (if not the) best pitching prospect in baseball, gave up just a run on 3 hits in 7 innings. The Mets gathered 2 hits and 2 runs off the Defenders bullpen, but were never really competitive.

The Mets had 5 hits tonight, while going just 1 for 4 with RISP and leaving 2 on base. Ruben Tejada (2 for 4, 2 runs, HR, RBI, K, .278) had the only multi hit game. They built up a 7-0 lead and withstood a 4 run 6th from the Lake Monsters, Collin McHugh worked 5.1 innings, giving up all 4 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits to pick up a cheap win, his 5th. Michael Powers pitched a scoreless 7th for his 6th save.

The Cyclones had 7 hits and drew 8 walks, while going 2 for 10 with RISP and leaving 8 on base.
