Angel Calero went through a period of extremely poor (some would call it downright horrible, they wouldn't be wrong) pitching (5 starts in a 7 start span with ERAs over 5, those 5 starts totalled 19 innings, with an 0-4 record, a 9.47 era, and a WHIP of 2.53 (33 hits, 15 walks in 19 innings). However, over his last 3 starts, he's begun to turn his season back around (20 innings, 20 hits, 4 runs, 4/17 bb/k, 0-1, 1.80 era). Tonight, he gave up a run on 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings (his second straight 7 inning outing, and 4th in his last 7 starts).

Jeurys Familia had a very good outing tonight, giving up just 2 UER (Joey August error), on 3 hits and a walk for his 6th SAL victory of the season. Over his last 5 starts, he's gone 6 or more in 4 of them, and has a 3-1 record with a 1.47 era in 30.2 ip. He's given 20 hits, walked 7 and struck out 28. Rhiner Cruz worked around major trouble (of his own doing) to pick up his 13th save.

The Gnats had 8 hits and drew 4 walks, while going 2 for 8 with RISP, leaving 7 on base. Every regular except Raul Reyes (0 for 3, BB, .244) had a hit.

Brandon Moore was in complete command of this game from the first pitch, in fact, he had a chance to throw the first 9 inning complete game in the system, but he faltered and gave up a run in the bottom of the 9th. Michael Powers worked 2 scoreless innings to get the win after the Cones pushed across a run in the 10th. The Cones had just 4 hits and 4 walks on the game, and were just 1 for 3 with RISP, leaving 6 on base.
