4/11 Minor League Report! GEE!

AAA International League: Buffalo 4/6/1, Scranton 1/6/0

Dillon Gee returned to action today and it was like he never left, he fired 6 innings of 2 hit shutout ball with 4 strikeouts for his first win of the season. Gee, as usual, had impeccable command, throwing 53 of 77 pitches for strikes. Bobby Parnell picked up a 4 out save, though it took him 26 pitches to get there.

The Bisons offense managed 6 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs today, more then enough for Gee. Mike Hessman (3) had the only multi-hit game for the Bisons, who were 2 for 6 with RISP and left 4 on base. Jason Pridie (0 for 3, run, BB, .118), Fernando Martinez, Chris Carter, Mike Cervanek (0 for 4, RBI, K, .267), and Ruben Tejada took 0-fers. The Bisons improve to 3-1 with the victory.

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 8/14/0, Akron 11/17/1

Well, early on, the BMets pitching has been horrifyingly awful, but their offense has been insanely excellent, leading to alot of games like this one in either direction. The Mets fell behind 9-1 after 5.5 innings today, but put up 3 in the 6th, 2 in the 7th, and single runs in the 8th and 9th, falling short in their comeback bid, in small part due to John Lujan giving up a pair of runs in the top of the 9th. The Mets fell to 0-4 on the season. Michael Antonini who two years ago rocketted through 3 levels of the farm system and onto tons of prospect radars, is rapidly approaching (if he's not already there) Dylan Owen/non prospect territory. He got lit up for 5 runs on 9 hits in 3.2 innings for his first loss. Josh Stinson's 2nd AA outing was atrocious, he got torched for 4 runs on 5 hits in 2.1 innings.

The Mets offense hammered out 14 hits and drew 5 walks in scoring 8 runs, they were 5 for 16 (.313) with RISP, though they did leave 12 on base. Jon Malo (0 for 3, RBI, .000) took the only 0-fer for the Mets, while Marshall Hubbard (2), Lucas Duda (2), Luke Montz (2), Luis Hernandez (2) and Jose Coronado (2) had multi hit games. I'm sorry, but Kirk only had one hit and struck out 3 times.

Kyle Allen's high A debut went much better then his Savannah quartet counterparts Jeurys Familia and Robert Carson's did, he fired 5 innings of 4 hit 1 run ball, though he did walk 4. He sat 92-94 on his fastball and touched 95 a number of times. He also generated 9 groundouts versus 3 flyouts. Elvin Ramirez blew the save for him, though, giving up 4 runs in his 2 innings of work to take the loss, the Mets fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Mets had 6 hits and drew 3 walks, but were 1 for 11 (.091) with RISP and left 7 on base. Richard Lucas (2) had the only multi hit game, while Sean Ratliff (0 for 3, run, BB, .143), Stefan Welch (0 for 4, .083), Jean Luc Blaquiere (0 for 3, K, .273) and Matt Bouchard (0 for 4, .000) all took 0-fers.

Collin McHugh's A debut didn't go the way he would've liked, he gave up 3 in the first, and lasted just 3 innings, he allowed 4 hits (including a HR), to take the loss. The Gnats offense managed just 4 hits and a run tonight in losing their first game of the season, they fell to 3-1. The Gnats were 1 for 6 with RISP and left 6 on base. Dock Doyle, in his season debut, had the only multi hit game, there were tons of 0-fers.
