4/27 Minor League Report!

Question for everyone, how many of you are reading this on Google Reader right now? I use the colors to a) seperate each game by highlighting the linescore, and b) highlight the players of the night, which I didn't used to do, and I think it does make a big difference if you read it on the blog proper, but if most of you guys use Reader...I'll try and work with you to choose some colors which don't give that app problems. Comment this post, use the chat box, or tweet at me.

AAA International League: Buffalo 9/11/1, Durham 5/12/2

Dillon Gee had his first bad outing of the season, and it was a doozy, as he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 4.2 innings, but the Bisons offense responded with 5 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th and 3 in the 8th to take him off the hook and get a win for Kiko Calero, who pitched in back of Gee and allowed 2 hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. John Lujan picked up his 2nd save with 2 scoreless.

Chris Carter and Mike Cervanek (0 for 4, .230) took 0-fers, while Jason Pridie, Jesus Feliciano, Mike Hessman, and Ruben Tejada each had 2 hit games to lead an 11 hit, 4 walk attack by Buffalo. The Bisons were 4 for 11 (.364) with RISP and left 8 on base and only struck out twice.

AA Eastern League: Binghamton 0/2/0, Portland 2/7/1

Boy, this BMets lineup just doesn't look the same without Nick Evans in it, and while I'm at it, reallllly missing Reese Havens, huh? Still haven't heard anything on Reese, but Evans is out with the dreaded oblique muscle injury. DJ Wabick and Jose Coronado had the lone hits for the BMets, who were 0 for 7 with RISP and left 5 on base, while walking twice (both Tiberius) and striking out 5 times. Michael Antonini started and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings (easily his best outing of the season) but he took the tough loss. Derrick Ellison and Josh Stinson each threw a scoreless inning of relief.

A+ Florida State League: St. Lucie 5/10/0, Charlotte 3/6/2

Three Mets hit homers today, accounting for all 5 RBI (Sean Ratliff, Josh Satin and Eric Campbell), powering the Mets 10 hit, 4 walk attack, though with the homers came Ks, 9 of them to be precise. The Mets were a scant 1 for 6 (.167) with RISP and left 10 on base, not that it mattered with the 3 homers. Raul Reyes (0 for 3, .175) took the only 0-fer, while Campbell and Jean Luc Blaquiere had the only two multi hit games.

Scott Moviel had a very uneven outing today, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks in 5.2 innings to take a ND. Jimmy Johnson pitched a perfect inning to get the win, Manuel Alvarez pitched the 9th for his 6th save.

A South Atlantic League: Savannah 3/4/0, Hickory 4/6/0

Darin Gorski was not good tonight at all, and according to Mike Newman's twitter, has awful awful stuff (Gorski 83-85 MPH, touching 86 MPH. Low 70's slurve and change, http://twitter.com/ScoutingtheSAL), truly a brilliant pick in the 7th round last year. Tonight, he got roughed up for 4 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings for the loss. Taylor Whitenton piggybacked and threw up 4 perfect innings, but the Gnats couldn't tie up the game. They had just 4 hits and 4 walks, and were hitless in 5 ABs with RISP, and left 5 on base, while striking out 11 times. Pedro Zapata, Jeff Flagg (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .209), Kai Gronauer (0 for 3, BB, .321), and Dock Doyle (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .208) and Alonzo Harris all took 0-fers.
