4/11 Minor League Report! MARTE!

Buffalo 0, Pawtucket 1

Old fashioned pitcher's duel today between the Sawx and Bisons, with Connor Robertson surrendering the only run of the game (in the 8th). The Bisons were held to 4 hits and 2 walks on the day, it didn't help that they went 0 for 3 with RISP.

Binghamton was rained out

St. Lucie 2, Sarasota 4

Matias Carrillo's season debut was a rough one thanks to his defense, he relieved Scott Shaw and surrendered 3 runs (1 earned due to errors by Carlos Guzman and Zach Lutz), taking the loss. Shaw was good, giving up just a run on 4 hits with 5 Ks in 5 innings, and early returns suggest he may be another of those mid round college finds the Mets specialize in (nothing special, 4th or 5th starter types, but the Mets do seem to find plenty).

Offensively, Greg Veloz and Carlos Guzman continued their fine starts with 2 more hits apiece, while Kirk Nieuwenhuis (0 for 3, BB, K, .182), Ike Davis (0 for 4, K, .167) and Brahiam Maldonado (0 for 3, BB, .000) took 0-fers.

Savannah 2, Augusta 1 in 11 innings

Sean Ratliff walked and scored on Eric Campbell's single in the 11th inning, giving the Gnats a 2-1 win, and making a winner out of Erik Turgeon in his A ball debut. This was after good pitching from Jeurys Familia in his A debut, and outstanding long relief from Jeff Kaplan in HIS A debut. Familia worked 4.1 innings of 2 hit ball, allowing just an unearned run (due to his own error, and Jefry Marte's 3rd already). Kaplan fired 5 shutout innings in long relief, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 3. Turgeon pitched a scoreless top of the 11th, and Campbell's walkoff made him a winner.

The dynamic teen duo of Jefry Marte and Wilmer Flores were a combined 5 for 10 tonight. Sean Ratliff (0 for 4, run, BB, K, .364) and Juan Lagares (0 for 4, run, 2 Ks, .182) took 0-fers.
