Another game, another loss, another very rough outing for Jon Niese. Niese lasted just 3.2 innings today, allowing 4 hits and 4 runs (3 earned, due to a Michel Abreu error), his ERA through 4 starts stands at a very inflated 8.44. Kyle Snyder took the loss, allowing 2 runs in 2.1 innings.

Offensively, every regular except Jason Cooper (0 for 3, K, .214) had a hit, with Jon Malo and Argenis Reyes recording multi hit games. The Bisons are now 2-13 on the season, and 12 games behind Scranton in the division.

Eric Brown had a very rough outing for the BMets today, surrendering 5 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings to take the loss, as the Mets fell 7-2, dropping them to 8-6 on the season, 2 games behind the division leading Fisher Cats.

The Mets had just 5 hits and 3 walks on the day, going 2 for 6 with RISP and leaving 4 on base. Lucas Duda (0 for 3, BB, K, .273), Caleb Stewart (0 for 3, BB, .147), Mike Nickeas (0 for 2, BB, .077) and Matt Bouchard (0 for 3, K, .164) took 0-fers.

Eric Niesen has been a victim of little to no run support early this season. Despite a sparkling 2.81 era, he is 0-2 to start 2009. And yeah, while I still think he's a reliever masquerading as a starter, he's pitched much better this year then he did at any point in 2008. Tonight he went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits (including a homer), striking out 6. Stephen Clyne allowed an unearned run in his 2 innings of relief, providing the final margin of defeat.

The Mets had 7 hits and drew 3 walks, but were just 1 for 5 with RISP and left 8 runners on. Reese Havens, Ike Davis and Rafael Arroyo (0 for 4, 3 Ks, .167) took 0-fers, while Jacob Elgsti had a multi hit game. The Mets dropped to 7-8 on the season, and are 3 games behind division leading Fort Myers.

Much like Robert Carson yesterday, while Kyle Allen's start looks bad on the surface, digging deeper into the numbers yields the fact that Allen allowed just 1 hit over the first 4.1 innings, before running into massive 5th inning trouble. Allen allowed 4 hits, a walk and 4 runs after that, recording just one more out along the way (understandable, since this was his longest outing of the season). Eric Beaulac took the loss, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) over his 3 innings of relief.

The Gnats pounded out 11 hits and drew 3 walks, but despite scoring 5 runs, they were 3 for 12 with RISP and left 8 men on base. Eric Campbell (0 for 5, run, 2 Ks, .254) and Stefan Welch (making his A debut; 0 for 4, 2 Ks) took 0-fers, while Rafael Fernandez, Josh Satin and Juan Lagares (hitting 6-7-8 in the order), all had multi hit games (combining to go 7 for 11 with 2 2b and 3 RBI). The loss dropped the Gnats to 10-5, good for a 1 game lead over both Lexington and Greenville in the division.
