Brad Holt got shelled again, this time for 7 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks in 2.2 innings for his 4th loss. It got so bad, Marshall Hubbard, the Mets DH, pitched the final 2 innings of the game. Roy Merritt got ripped for 6 runs on 5 hits and a walk after Holt, putting the game well out of reach. The Mets offense had 7 hits and 4 walks, but were hitless in 4 ABs with RISP, left 7 on base, and struck out 11 times. Luis Hernandez and Nick Evans had multi hit games, while Marshall Hubbard, Carlos Guzman, Jose Coronado (0 for 3, BB, .241), Brahiam Maldonado and Hector Pellot (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .145) all took 0-fers.

Jeurys Familia had a good outing today, giving up a run on 6 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings, but he took the loss after Jimmy Johnson got ripped for 3 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings, though Rhiner Cruz gave up both of Johnson's IHRs.
The Mets offense had 8 hits and drew 4 walks, while going 3 for 9 with RISP, and leaving 6 on base, along with 6 strikeouts. Daniel Murphy, on rehab, had the lone multi hit game for the Mets, while Raul Reyes (0 for 5, 2 Ks, .191) and Wilfredo Tovar (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .286) took the only 0-fers. Tovar is in a 1 for 16 skid, his first high A slump, and he's struck out 8 times during the slump, after 4 Ks in his first 40 ABs. Juan Centeno PH for Tovar in the 9th and made an out.

Armando Rodriguez, one start after his best outing of the season, had his worst, giving up 5 runs (4 earned), on 3 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings, for his 4th loss. Lance Hoge ended up giving up the decisive runs, though, as the Gnats offense rallied back for 6 runs, on 8 hits, 2 walks and 4 Charleston errors. Despite the offense, the Gnats were just 2 for 15 (.133) with RISP, left 10 on base, but struck out just 5 times. Jefry Marte, Rafael Fernandez, Cesar Puello and Alex Gregory (0 for 3, run, K, .253) all took 0-fers, while Pedro Zapata and Alonzo Harris had multi hit games.
