5.1 Minor League Report! Evans, Carp, CARRERA!

New Orleans 2, Tacoma 3

A night after having to us 5 pitches for 9 innings out of their pen, the Zs needed length from their starter, and got exactly that from Tony Armas, who delievered 7 innings of 4 hit 3 run ball, but it wasn't enough as the Zs fell 3-2 to Tacoma. Joselo Diaz, who only went 2.2 innings in his last start, pitched a perfect 8th.

Offensively, The Zs were held to just 3 hits and 2 runs, with Argenis Reyes and Jesus Feliciano the only ones with hits. Reyes was 1 for 4 with a K and Feliciano was 2 for 4 with a run scored. The Zs are now 16-11.

Nick Evans and Mike Carp combined for 4 hits and 2 walks, but it wasn't enough to overcome a poor Jose Sanchez start, and the Mets fell for the 8th time in 9 games, 7-4, to drop to 10-17 on the season. Jose Sanchez only lasted 4.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, walking 3 and striking out 3. Eddie Camacho and Joe Hietpas allowed 3 runs in 3.2 innings, while Eddie Kunz pitched a perfect 9th.

The top 3 in the Mets order (Garcia, Martinez and Murphy) were 0 for 13 with 4 Ks. Only Evans and Carp had multi hit games, while in addition to the top 3 in the order, Caleb Stewart took an 0-fer on his return to Binghamton (0 for 2, run, RBI, BB)

Ezequiel Carrera had his second straight outstanding day leading off, after going 2 for 4 last night, he was 3 for 5 tonight, and Ramon Castro was 1 for 3 in his 3rd rehab game. Jamar Hill and Josh Petersen joined St. Lucie, pushing Ruben Tejada to the 7 hole, where he was 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Jason Jacobs (0 for 1, .306) and Luis Rivera (0 for 4, .263) took 0-fers for the Mets, who have won 4 of 5 and are now 6-21.

Greg Veloz and Jordan Abruzzo had multi hit games, while Michael Hernandez (0 for 2, 2 runs, 2 BBs, .435), Francisco Pena (0 for 4, K, .238), Richard Lucas (0 for 3, K, .193), Jacob Elgsti (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .167) Matt Bouchard (ph 0 for 1, .202), Will Vogl (0 for 3, K, .129) and Darren Clark (ph 0 for 1, .232) had 0-fers.
