5.2 Minor League Report! EVANS, Parnell, Gee!

Tonight's song: Fastball - The Way

New Orleans 4, Portland 6

Willie Collazo had a nightmare outing, his first bad one of the year, and it cost the Zs a victory. Collazo surrendered 4 runs on 3 hits (including a homer) and 2 walks in his inning of work, ruining another good start from Ruddy Lugo (6 ip, 3 h, er). The Zs fell to 16-12.

The Zs had a sporadic night at the plate, scattering 10 hits. Anderson Hernandez was the only Z to go hitless (0 for 5, .200), while Argenis Reyes was the only one with multiple hits. Fernando Tatis drove in a pair with a single, the other RBI went to Victor Mendez and Lugo.

Argenis Reyes (2b) 2 for 4, run, BB, K, .276
Michel Abreu (1b) 1 for 5, K, .259

Adam Bostick 0.2 IP, 2 Ks, 3.77 era

Binghamton 5, Connecticut 3

Bobby Parnell had his first really good outing of the year, and Nick Evans broke out of a slump with 3 hits, leading the Mets to their 11th win of the season, 5-3. Parnell went 6.1 innings (into the 7th for the first time), giving up 2 runs and 4 hits. Eude Brito gave up a run in his 1.2 innings, and Eddie Kunz pitched his second straight perfect inning for his 5th save of the season.

In addition to Nick Evans big night, Caleb Stewart had a multi hit game in his 2nd game back in Binghamton, and only 2 position players had 0-fers, Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 3, K, .202), Saloman Manriquez (0 for 4, .230).

Eude Brito 1.2 IP, 2 H, ER, K, 9.82 era
Eddie Kunz IP, K, 4.26 era, SV (5)

St. Lucie 11, Daytona 8

The final score isn't indicative of how much St. Lucie took it to Daytona, the Mets bullpen dregs gave up 6 in the bottom of the 9th, otherwise, it was their most convincing victory all season. Ezequiel Carrera had his second straight multi-hit game, and is now hitting .280 for the year. Josh Thole, Lucas Duda, Josh Petersen, DJ Wabick and Luis Rivera also had multi hit games for the Mets, who have won 5 of 6 and are now 7-21. 4 players took 0-fers, Ramon Castro in his 4th rehab outing (0 for 2, 2 BBs, K, .500), Jason Jacobs (0 for 1, K, .297), Ruben Tejada (0 for 4, K, .228) and Jamar Hill (0 for 4, run, .182). Hector Pellot left this game for a PR after drawing a walk in his only plate appearance.

Dillon Gee had a great outing tonight, only giving up 2 runs in 6.2 innings. He did allow a ton of hits (9), but struck out 7. John Wesley and Brandon Nall did their damndest to give the game away, but got 3 outs before allowing 9 runs in the 9th (they allowed 6).

Ezequiel Carrera (cf) 2 for 4, 2 runs, BB, .280
Josh Thole (dh) 2 for 5, 2 runs, RBI, .258
Lucas Duda (1b) 2 for 5, run, 2b (8), HR (3), 4 RBI (24), .330
Josh Petersen (3b) 2 for 5, 2 runs, 2b, RBI, .444
DJ Wabick (lf) 4 for 5, run, 2 2b (10), 2 RBI (13), .298
Luis Rivera (pr, 2b) 2 for 4, 2 runs, RBI, .286
Dillon Gee 6.2 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 7 Ks, 4.55 era, W (2-2)
John Wesley 0.0 IP, H, 4 ER, 3 BBs, 27 era
Brandon Nall IP, 3 H, 2 ER, K, 5.84 era

Wow. Can we cut these two bums already? Wesley's shown he blows, and Nall's a sidearming righty, we have Mighty Joe for that. Cut these two losers already.

Savannah 9, Hickory 6

Scott Moviel found himself on the long side of a 7-0 game after 1 full inning, and he worked his way through 6, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs, picking up his 2nd win while LOWERING his ERA to a still very ugly 8.37. He was on top of his game, however, getting 11 ground ball outs of the 18 he got. Nick Waechter allowed 3 runs in the 8th, momentarily carving the 7-0 lead to 7-6, but Edgar Ramirez saved Waechter's bacon, and the Gnats tacked on 2 to ice it. The Gnats are 10-18 on the season.

Richard Pena returned to the Gnats lineup after sitting out a couple weeks with an ankle injury, and promptly smacked 2 doubles out of the 6 hole, driving in a pair. In addition to Pena, Greg Veloz, Joaquin Rodriguez and Jose Jimenez had multi hit games, while Michael Parker (0 for 4, K, .154), and Matt Bouchard (0 for 3, .196) took 0-fers.

Greg Veloz (2b) 2 for 4, run, .229, 2 SB (13)

Jose Jimenez (1b) 2 for 3, run, RBI, .202
Richard Lucas (3b) 1 for 4, 3b, 2 RBI, .195
Scott Moviel 6 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, BB, 2 Ks, 8.37 era, W (2-4), 11:5:2
Nick Waechter 1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs, K, 5.74 era
