5/21 Minor League Report! Trinity! Niese!

Binghamton 2, Connecticut 1

Good night for the Trinity = good night for the Mets. The Trinity went 5 for 9 with 3 walks and both RBI (1 each for Evans and Carp) - and Jon Niese rebounded from a disaster his last outing, allowing just a run on 4 hits in 5.2 innings, leading the Mets back to .500, at 22-22. It's a good thing the Trinity hit, because no one else in the lineup did, except Jose Coronado in the 8 hole (2 for 4, .250). Everyone else took 0-fers.

Dan Murphy (3b) 2 for 3, 2 runs, BB, .335, SB (5)
Nick Evans (lf, 1b) 2 for 4, RBI, .296
Mike Carp (1b) 1 for 2, RBI, 2 BBs, .341 (was doubleswitched out in the 8th)
Jose Coronado (ss) 2 for 4, .250
Jon Niese 5.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 4 BBs, 5 Ks, 3.88 era, W (3-4)
Joe Hietpas 1.1 IP, K, 6.75 era
Eddie Camacho 0.2 IP, BB, 1.93 era
Eddie Kunz 1.1 IP, K, 2.70 era, SV (10)

St. Lucie 3, Dunedin 7

It was a good game, 2-1 Dunedin going to the 7th, but then all hell broke loose. Single, bunt, Stephen Clyne replaced Stoner, then Clyne got a grounder, then IBBed a hitter. Then gave up an RBI single, before yielding to Edgar Alfonzo, who allowed a 2 run 2b and an RBI single. Alfonzo also allowed a run in the 8th, and the Mets scored 2 in the 9th, falling 7-3, and dropping back to their low water mark, 9-37 (28 under). The Mets did have 10 hits, but couldn't put together any big innings. Luis Rivera and DJ Wabick had multi hit games, while Ruben Tejada was the only Met to go hitless (0 for 4, BB, K, .220).

Luis Rivera (2b) 2 for 5, .252
Lucas Duda (dh) 1 for 4, K, .287
DJ Wabick (lf) 2 for 4, .276
Josh Thole (1b) 1 for 4, run, 2b, .245
Chris Fournier (rf) 1 for 4, 2 runs, HR, RBI, K, .417
Tobi Stoner 6.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs, 7 Ks, 2.76 era, L (1-3)
Stephen Clyne 0.1 IP, H, 2 ER, BB, 13.17 era
Edgar Alfonzo 1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, K, 6.75 era

Savannah 1, Augusta 2

Michael Antonini took a very tough loss today, despite going 5.2 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 8, as the Gnats offense was completely shut down by Augusta.

The Gnats scattered 5 hits throughout the order, 1 apiece for Greg Veloz (1 for 3, BB, .221), Richard Pena (1 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .223), Jordan Abruzzo (1 for 4, .323), Carlos Guzman (1 for 3, 2 Ks, .400), and Jacob Elgsti (1 for 3, run, K, .250), with the lone RBI coming off the bat of Casey Craig. Everyone else took 0-fers.

Francisco Pena (c) 0 for 4, K, .282
Michael Antonini 5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 8 Ks, 2.83 era, L (3-2)
