Tonight's Song: Evanescence - Understanding
New Orleans 3, Oklahoma where the wind comes whistling down the plain 12
Little excessive? There was something a little excessive about the number of runs given up by Ruddy Lugo (7) and Joselo Diaz (5), too. Lugo went 3 ip, and Diaz went 2. Ivan Maldonado pitched 3 scoreless innings to close it out, but it was much too little, much too late, as the Zs fell to 21-23.
The top 3 in the Zs order (AHern, Jesus Feliciano, Chris Aguila) went 0 for 13 with 2 walks and 3 Ks, making it hard for the Zs to put together any rallies. Raul Casanova and Anderson Machado had multi hit games, with 2 hits a piece.

It was kind of like old times today, as Dan Murphy and Mike Carp went OFF, combining to go 7 for 9 with 3 runs, 2b, 2 RBI, and a BB. Caleb Stewart had his second straight outstanding game, with 3 more hits after 4 yesterday. Nick Evans (0 for 4, run, BB, .291) and Saloman Manriquez (0 for 4, run, BB, 2 Ks, .217) went hitless.
Salvador Aguilar pitched brilliant baseball for 6.2 innings, before yielding to Eude Brito, who got the final out in the 7th. Robert Paulk and Tim LaVigne finished off the 6 hit shutout. The Mets are now 21-22.

St. Lucie 2, Dunedin 15
It was ugly in Dunedin, Florida, tonight. How ugly? JR Voyles, a position player, pitched the 8th for the Mets. He didn't fare much better then Nick Carr (2.2 ip, 6 er) or Elvys Quezada (recently signed - ip, 4 er). It was an ugly night all around for the Mets, who fell to 8-36 with the loss. They've lost 15 of 16.
The top 4 in the Mets order (Will Vogl, Ruben Tejada, DJ Wabick, Lucas Duda) went 1 for 16, with the lone hit (and a run scored) coming from DJ Wabick. Lucas Duda drove him in, Salvador Paniagua supplied the other RBI with a homer.

Elvin Ramirez had a rare bad outing, surrendering 6 hits and 4 runs over 4.2 innings, and the bullpen couldn't hold it there, with Nick Waechter and Brant Rustich giving up 3 runs in 4.1 innings, dooming the Gnats to their 26th loss (18-26).
Theme of the night (outside of Binghamton) - the top 3 in the Gnat order (Veloz, Parker and Craig) went 2 for 14 with 7 Ks. Craig had a 2 RBI 3b, though. Jordan Abruzzo and Jose Jimenez had multi-hit games, while Michael Parker (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .241), Joaquin Rodriguez (0 for 4, 3 Ks, .298) took 0-fers.

Can we get an updated top 15 or so prospects? What their stats are? What their future looks like as in eta? Updating it once a month would be kind of a cool feature. Also with the draft upcoming any way you guys can come up with a mock draft for the mets and what the possibilities for our 3 first rounders will be?
ReplyDeleteOK - top 15 prospects, look for it June 1st.
ReplyDeleteAs for the draft, David's the go to guy for that, but he's 1) in HS, 2) been viciously sick the last 3 days, so we should have something up on that shortly.
