Bobby Parnell was victimized by an Emmanuel Garcia error in the 3rd, leading to 3 unearned runs off Parnell. Aside from that, however, Bobby was in full Freakin' mode today, registering an absurd 11:1 groundball to flyball ratio, with 6 Ks. Robert Paulk allowed a run in 0.1 innings, but Eddie Camacho saved his bacon, and Tim LaVigne got the save, the Mets are back over .500 at 24-23.

Reverse yesterday's "are you kidding me?" spiel, there's your game story. The Mets trailed 8-1 after 5, only to put up 5 in the 6th to pull within 2, but ulimately the rally fell short, as they lost 8-6. Lucas Duda and DJ Wabick had 2 run homers one batter apart in the 5 run inning, and the other run came off a 3rd inning JR Voyles homer.

Nick Carr didn't make it out of the 2nd inning, allowing 6 hits and 5 runs in just an inning plus. Casey Hoorelbeke (another 27 year old retread reliever the Mets have tried) provided some very ineffective 3 innings of long relief, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs of his own, plus allowing both of Carr's IHR to score in the 2nd. Edgar Alfonzo and Elvys Quezada pitched 4 shutout innings, giving the Mets a chance, but that rally fell short, as stated above.

Ruben Tejada (ss) 0 for 2, K, .212
Luis Rivera (ss) 0 for 2, .252
Josh Thole (dh) 1 for 4, run, RBI, .259
Lucas Duda (1b) 1 for 4, run, HR, 2 RBI, .286
PORNSTACHE (lf) 2 for 4, run, 2b, .571
DJ Wabick (rf) 2 for 4, run, HR, 2 RBI, K, .278
JR Voyles (2b) 2 for 4, run, HR, RBI, K, .239
Nick Carr IP+, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BBs, HR, 6.50 era, L (0-6)
Casey Hoorelbeke 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs, HR, 5.91 era
Edgar Alfonzo 2 IP, H, BB, 2 Ks, 5.56 era
Elvys Quezada 2 IP, H, 2 Ks, 11.25 era

You know what, this just came to me, but I'd pay to hear Keith refer to Valentin on SNY as Pornstache. It'd be hilarious, especially when he'd have to explain it to Ron and Gary.

Savannah 4, Greenville 2

Elvin Ramirez was cruising along into the 7th with a 4-1 lead, when trouble found him. He left with 2 down in the inning and the bases loaded, but Julio Polanco stranded all 3 runners, preserving the lead, and the win for Ramirez. Polanco pitched 2.1 innings to earn his 2nd save of the season.

Jordan Abruzzo and Michael Parker had multi hit games to pace the 8 hit attack from the 3 and 8 hole, respectively. Francisco Pena had an RBI triple from the 5 hole, while Jose Jimenez (0 for 4, RBI, 2 Ks, .235) and Joaquin Rodriguez (0 for 4, K, .270) took 0-fers from the cleanup spot and the 7 hole. The Gnats are 20-29.
