New Orleans 1, Nashville 2
The Zs were 2 hit, and Brian Stokes was on the other end of that lack of offense, not a good combination. Stokes allowed 5 hits and 2 runs, enough to send him to his 4th loss of the season. Tim McNab pitched the final 2 innings.
The hits came off the bats of Gustavo Molina (1 for 4, run, K, .241) and Anderson Machado (1 for 2, RBI, BB, K, .159) with Machado getting the lone RBI. The Zs are back at .500, at 20-20.

Jon Niese flat out didn't have it tonight, giving up 8 hits and 6 runs in just 3 innings. He walked one and didn't strike out a batter. However, the Mets bullpen turned in their best collective effort of the season, going 8 innings of 4 hit shutout relief. Eude Brito, German Marte, Tim LaVigne and Eddie Camacho were the pitchers.
Not quite as foreboding a word with Carp out, but the Duo had a good day, going a combined 6 for 12 with 3 runs, 2b, 3b, 2 RBI. Aside from them, Ambi Concepcion, Saloman Manriquez and Salvador Paniagua put together multi hit games to power the 15 hit attack. Jose Coronado was the only Met with an 0-fer, he went 0 for 6 with a K, lowering his average to .239. The Mets are now 18-21.

Another day, another loss for the Mets, their 32nd in their first 40 games (8-32). That is a .200 WPCT, over a 162 game season, they'd be on pace for 32.4-129.6. Tonight it was Eric Niesen who took a loss, allowing 3 runs in 5 innings. Tim Stronach and Stephen Clyne each allowed a run in their time on the mound.
Despite the loss, 4 of the top 5 hitters in the order had 2 hits, and the top 5 got on base 10 times. Unfortunately, the bottom 4 only had 1 hit and 1 walk, so the Mets stranded 9 runners. Lucas Duda (0 for 2, 2 BBs, K, .291), Josh Thole (0 for 2, BB, .238), Ruben Tejada (0 for 4, .223), and Sean McCraw (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .150) took 0-fers.

Angel Calero cruised through the first 5 innings, then ran into 6th inning trouble, surrendering 3 runs (with help from Nick Waechter, who allowed 1 IHR to score). Still Calero struck out 6 in 5.1 innings, and his ERA is still a sparkling 2.68. Waechter picked up the win in relief, going 3 innings, and Jose Bierd notched his 5th save of the season.
Jordan Abruzzo had a huge night, going 4 for 4 with a run and RBI, he was the lone Gnat with more then one hit. Casey Craig (0 for 3, run, BB, .413, CS (2)), Joaquin Rodriguez (0 for 2, BB, .326) and Matt Bouchard (0 for 2, K, .222) took 0-fers for the Gnats, who are now 18-22.
