7/3 Minor League Report! Carp, VELOZ, Ratliff, Welch!

News on Wilmer: Flores blasted home run No. 5 in the first inning, then left after his second at bat not feeling well. Flores finished 1-for-2 and is now hitting .380 with 19 RBI -- second in the league to Danville's Gerardo Rodriguez.

"We took him out as a precaution. We'll see how he feel tomorrow,'' said Kingsport manager Pedro Lopez. "If he can't play, we'll have someone else in there.''

Binghamton 6, Altoona 2

Dan Murphy started at 2b for the first time in his career, and played error free baseball, and even had to turn over a 643 DP. It would be a very good thing if Murphy proved adequate at 2b, because his bat will definitely be able to carry him in the majors. Murphy also was on base three times with a double and 2 walks. Mike Carp and Saloman Manriquez had multi hit games for the Mets, while Fernando, Nick Evans and Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 4, .226) took 0-fers.

Salvador Aguilar, appointed to the AA ASG, picking up his EL leading 10th win tonight, firing 6 innings of 2 run ball, striking out 7. Aguila is 26, way too old to be considered a prospect, but it's awfully hard to ignore the production he's putting up, 10 wins before the ASB and a 2.83 era in 90+ innings. Eric Brown and Edgar Alfonzo finished off the game.

St. Lucie 3, Daytona 12

Dylan Owen got jacked up for a 2nd straight outing, giving up 6 hits and 6 runs in just 2.1 innings. In his last two starts, he's given up 12 runs on 14 hits in 5.2 innings, an ugly 19.06 era. Elvys Quezada allowed a run in 2.2 innings, and then Casey Hoorelbeke got jacked up for 7 hits and 5 runs in his 2.1 innings. Emary Frederick finished off the nightmarish game.

The offense had little chance in this one, Owen put them down 4-0 and 7-1 before they could mount any significant rally attempts. Shawn Bowman had his first homer of the season, he, Jose Thole, and Ruben Tejada had the RBI. Victor Mendez, Bowman and DJ Wabick had the runs. Ezequiel Carrera (0 for 4, BB, 2 Ks, .257), Lucas Duda (0 for 4, BB, K, .267), Victor Mendez (0 for 4, run, BB, K, .231), and Peeter Ramos (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .200) took 0-fers.

Kingsport 11, Johnson City 3

Wilmer Flores hit his 5th homer in the first, but was PH for in the 4th inning after popping out to 2b in his 2nd AB, no word yet on why. Stay tuned for updates if they become available.

Outside of that, Stefan Welch hit his first pro homer, a 2 run shot in the 9th. Everyone in the lineup had either an RBI or run scored, despite 3 0-fers (Ignacio Medrano (0 for 3, run, RBI, BB, .333), Imbewer Alvarez (0 for 2, RBI, .059), and Pedro Zapata (0 for 3, 2 runs, BB, K, .206)).
