Moises Alou left the game with a left hamstring cramp after diving for a ball in the field. Oy vey. I think this is it for him, time to do something for a permanent solution to a corner outfield spot (unfortunately, there's not much to do, without trading away one (or more) of your top 3 prospects (Nando, Niese, Carp) - which I WOULD NOT do). Jose Coronado, Dan Murphy, Mike Carp, Caleb Stewart and Saloman Manriquez had the hits, while Alou (0 for 3, .167), Ambi Concepcion (0 for 4, K, .248) and Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 3, .216) took 0-fers.

Tobi Stoner started and was good over the first 5 innings, having allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, but did not retire either of the 2 batters he faced in the 6th, and Joe Hietpas had a simply disasterous outing in relief, allowing a walk and 2 hits without retiring a batter. By that point, it was 4-0 and getting worse, The Mets allowed 6 in the 6th, falling behind 8-0.

Elvin Ramirez didn't have a good game today, surrendering 4 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings, taking his 7th loss of the season. Nick Waechter ended up allowing the run that would matter (in the 6th, his first inning of work). Jose Bierd finished out the game with his first scoreless appearance since June 10th (spanning 5 appearances, he'd given up 10 earned runs in 10 innings of work).

Yury Santana (the 26 year old reliever) blew his 2nd save of the season, giving up the game winning run in the bottom of the 8th. That ruined a good outing from Pedro P Martinez, who went 6, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Jimmy Johnson gets the assist for blowing the game, he allowed a run in the 8th, before yielding to Santana.
