Yes, Buffalo increased their win total by 16.67%, from 6 to 7. Unfortunately, the other number on the ledger is a 22, as in 22 losses. The third is a 15, as in 15 games out of first place. Jesus Feliciano, Fernando Martinez and Michel Abreu (hitting 2-3-4), went a combined 6 for 11 with 3 2b, a HR and 3 RBI, pacing a 10 hit 3 walk attack. The Bisons were 4 for 11 with RISP and left 7 on base. Argenis Reyes (0 for 5, K, .303), and Rafael Arroyo (0 for 3, run, BB, 2 Ks, .000) took 0-fers. Tim Redding pitched well, but got a ND. Elmer Dessens got the win in relief.

Tobi Stoner's season debut was outstanding, he fired a 2 hit shutout over 7 innings for the win. Julio De La Cruz and Roy Merritt each allowed a run in their appearances, but Merritt got the save, his 10th. We told you about this yesterday, Merritt after a hot start is cratering back to Earth, having allowed 8 runs in his last 7 innings. The BMets improved to 14-15 with the win, and in a crowded Northern Division, are 2 games out, but in 5th place.

The Mets had 8 hits and 3 walks, but were just 1 for 9 with RISP and left 7 runners on base. Lucas Duda (0 for 3, BB, .311), DJ Wabick (0 for 3, BB, K, .267), and Ruben Tejada (0 for 4, K, .258) took 0-fers, while Carl Loadenthal had the only multi hit game for the Mets.

Eric Niesen fired 6 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 7 for his 2nd win, as the Mets blanked the Cardinals 3-0. Emary Frederick pitched the 9th for his 3rd save. The win moves the Mets to 16-14 on the season, 3.5 games back of Fort Myers for first in the division.

The Mets had just 4 hits and 3 walks, and were just 1 for 8 with RISP, leaving 5 runners on base, but nonetheless found enough offense to win tonight. Hector Pellot (2 for 4, run, 2b, .290), Francisco Pena (1 for 4, RBI, .225), and Carlos Guzman 1 for 4, run, 2b, K, .286) had the hits for the Mets, everyone else took 0-fers.

Robert Carson was the victim of Jefry Marte's 14th error of the season, it was a run producing error, and prolonged the 3rd inning long enough for Carson to give up a 3 run homer, the only 4 runs Carson would give up on the night, enough to tag him with his 3rd loss, despite a 2.20 era. Over Carson's last 23 innings (taking out the nightmarish 1st inning of his 4/24 start), he's yielded 10 runs, but only 1 earned run on 16 hits and 6 walks, with 15 Ks. Interesting to note, Jefry Marte's committed errors in each of Carson's last 4 outings (Carson has strong ground ball tendencies, 1.70 this year, 3.77 last year). Conclusion: Robert Carson needs a hug.

The loss drops the Gnats to 16-14, 1 game out of first place.

Eric Campbell (1 for 4, RBI, K, .265), Sean Ratliff (promote him to St. Lucie already! 2 for 4, run, HR (4), RBI (18), .355), Rafael Fernandez (1 for 4, 2b, 2 Ks, .252), and Kai Gronauer (1 for 4, 2b, K, .246) had the hits for the Gnats, everyone else took 0-fers.
