Buffalo 4, Gwinnett 3 in 11 innings

Tim McNab picked up a cheap win (it's the theme of the night), giving up a pair in the top of the 11th, (1 earned, due to a Fernando Martinez error), only to see the Bisons score 3 in the bottom half of the inning for the win. Dillon Gee started the game and was excellent for the 2nd time in his last 3 starts (7 ip, 6 h, er, k on 5/2). Tonight, he gave up a run on 3 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.

The Bisons were held to 9 hits and 3 walks in the game, and all 4 of their runs were UER. They went 2 for 8 with RISP, leaving 10 men on base. Robinson Cancel (0 for 3, run, BB, .241) took the only 0-fer.

Fernando Nieve had his best start of the season, firing 6 innings of 2 hit 1 run ball, but got a ND. Eric Brown took the loss, allowing a run on 3 hits in 2 innings.

The offense had just 4 hits and a walk, going 1 for 2 with RISP and leaving 4 on base. Josh Thole (0 for 4, .320), Lucas Duda (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .298), DJ Wabick (0 for 3, .258), Salvador Paniagua (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .200) and Carl Loadenthal (0 for 2, K, .274) took 0-fers.

The Mets got a grand slam from Francisco Pena in the first inning, setting the tone for the offense, en route to a 11 hit, 3 homer, 8 walk outburst against the Cardinals. Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Carlos Guzman also homered for the Mets, who went 5 for 14 with RISP, and left 9 men on base.

Pitch counts suck. People wonder why we (and by we, I mean all of baseball, not the Mets) aren't developing starters who can go deep into games? Just thought I'd throw that out there for everyone. Brad Holt was removed with a TWELVE to TWO lead, having struck out 9 over 4.2 innings, one out from qualifying for a win. Manuel Alvarez gave up a couple runs in 1.1 innings to pick up the cheap "win" in his season debut. Sporting a lovely 1-0, 10.80 line.

Eric Beaulac and Kyle Allen pitched a great game tonight, Beaulac got the win (his 2nd), and Allen his 2nd save. Beaulac allowed both Bowling Green runs in the 4th, he pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and those 2 runs, which were UER due to a Josh Satin error (his first, he mostly DHes).

The Gnats had just 4 hits on the night, Jordany Valdespin (0 for 4, run, 2 Ks, .346), Eric Campbell (0 for 4, K, .256), Sean Ratliff (0 for 3, BB, .346), Josh Satin (0 for 3, BB, K, .327), and Jefry Marte (0 fro 4, K, .233) took 0-fers.
