Josh Thole and Ryan Coultas had HUGE games today for the Mets, as they blanked the Rock Cats 6-0 to move to 21-24, 5 games back of Connecticut for the Northern Division lead. Thole, Emmanuel Garcia, Shawn Bowman and DJ Wabick had multi hit games for the Mets, while Coultas had his longest professional pitching outing of his career, a 2 hitter over 8 innings for his 4th win.
Garcia drove in 3 runs for the Mets, who pounded out 12 hits and drew 5 walks, en route to 6 runs, and a very good 5 for 14 showing with RISP. They did leave 10 on base, though. Lucas Duda (0 for 3, 2 BBs, .285), and Jose Coronado (0 for 4, K, .261) took 0-fers for the Mets.

Two Jefry Marte homers weren't enough tonight, as the Gnats fell 3-2 to Asheville, dropping to 24-23, 3 games behind Charleston in the Southern Division. Marte broke out of a long long slump in a HUGE way with 3 hits, including his second and third homers of the season, but it was in a losing cause. Jordany Valdespin also had a 3 hit game atop the lineup, but in between were 6 0-fers and a 1 fer (Sean Ratliff went 1 for 4 with 2 Ks, he's hitting .314 on the season).
Kyle Allen's third start (in 9 APPs) of the year was uneven, he allowed 3 runs (2 earned) over 4 innings, but allowed 7 hits and 2 walks, and had 2 wild pitches.
