Scott Shaw had his second best outing of the season, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits in 7 innings, but he took a ND after the Mets rallied for 2 in the 8th to get him off the hook. Manuel Alvarez pitched 2 scoreless innings to pick up his 2nd win.
The Mets were stymied over the first 7 innings by 23 year old lefty Charles Higgins, but exploded against the Dunedin bullpen with 5 hits and 2 runs in 1 inning. Kirk Nieuwenhuis had the only multi hit game for the Mets, while Carlos Guzman (0 for 4, K, .283), Matt Bouchard (0 for 3, K, .205) and Brahiam Maldonado (0 for 2, run, BB, K, .220) took 0-fers.

Stefan Welch, who is likely ticketted for Brooklyn, and Jefry Marte, had multi hit games for the Gnats, while Rafael Fernandez (0 for 5, RBI, .250), Sean Ratliff (0 for 5, .297), and Wilmer Flores took 0-fers.
