New Orleans 3, Memphis 2
No, it wasn't as good as Jon Niese's AAA debut, but it was still an unquestionable success for Bobby Freakin Parnell today. 6 innings, 2 runs on 5 hits, 88 pitches. And his first AAA victory. Eddei Camacho, Tim McNab and Nate Field picked it up from the 7th, and got Parnell the win, Field picked up his 13th save.

Emary Frederick got bombed for 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in just 2 innings, with all the damage occuring in the 9th, taking his 4th loss. Earlier, Eric Niesen pitched very effectively, allowing just a run on 5 hits in 6 innings. Despite my pounding the table on Niesen being a reliever, he has not performed that badly in a starting role this year (I just think it's ill-advised).
The offense managed just 6 hits and a run today, despite also drawing 4 walks, due to 6 LOB. Greg Veloz, in his second A+ game, went 1 for 4. Ezequiel Carrera was 1 for 3 with a walk, leveling off at the .275 mark, for now. Ruben Tejada (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .230), Lucas Duda (0 for 4, .262), Jason Jacobs (0 for 3, 3 Ks, .240) and Joe Holden (0 for 3, .260) took 0-fers.

The Gnats, down a leadoff hitter and 2b, busted out offensively for 7 runs on 13 hits, with the 4-7 hitters supplying the bulk of the offense, with 9 hits between them. Francisco Pena (0 for 4, run, BB, 4 Ks, .268), and Nick Giarraputo (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .253) took the only 0-fers, while 5 Gnats had multi hit games.
Brant Rustich started tonight, and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings, striking out a career high 7. But he got an ND, Manuel Olivares got the win with 5 innings of 4 hit shutout relief, K'ing 6.

Brooklyn 2, Batavia 1
All of the runs in this game came in a 1 inning span between the bottom of the first (2 for Brooklyn) and top of the 2nd (1 for Batavia). Aside from that, it was a complete pitchers day, with the two staffes combining to give up 12 hits in 18 offensive innings, striking out 22. Pedro P Martinez went the first 5, allowing a run on 5 hits for his 2nd win. Jimmy Johnson went 3.2 innings of perfect relief, and Yury Santana got the final out for his 10th save.
The Conies only had 7 hits themselves, with Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Jordan Abruzzo scoring runs in the first, accounting for all the Cyclones runs. Eric Campbell (0 for 3, .263), and Sean Ratliff (0 for 3, .203) took 0-fers.

Kingsport 2, Danville 3
Raul Batis was magnificant over 7 innings in his best Kingsport start to date, giving up just a run on 5 hits, but Zach Rosenbaum's miserable season continued, with him blowing his 2nd save and taking his 4th loss, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) over 1 inning.
The offense, stifled as it was, did enough to win, were it not for Rosenbaum's blowup, collecting 8 hits and 4 walks. However, they did leave 8 men on base, and the top 2 in the order (Fernandez, Suire) were 0 for 8 with 3 Ks. Pedro Zapata and Justin Garber had 3 hit games, the only ones with multiple hits for Kingsport. Dock Doyle (0 for 4, 3 Ks, .325), Stefan Welch (0 for 2, 2 BBs, .273), and Jean Luc Blaquiere (0 for 4, run, 2 Ks, .266) also took 0-fers.
