Mike Carp's 6th inning solo homer (his 5th of the month and 17th of the season), made a winner out of Dillon Gee, his first EL victory. Carp went 1 for 3 with that homer, and a walk. Luis Castillo was PR for in the 3rd, after drawing a walk in his second plate appearance. Fernando Martinez (0 for 4, K, .280), Ambi Concepcion (0 for 4, K, .245), Shawn Bowman (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .246), and Anderson Machado (0 for 3, .200) all took 0-fers, while Salvador Paniagua had the only multi hit game.
Dillon Gee went 6 innings, allowing just a run on 3 hits, striking out 7 to raise his ERA to 1.38, earning his first victory in the EL. Elvys Quezada and Tim LaVigne worked the final 2 innings, LaVigne picking up his 8th save.

Greg Veloz and Ruben Tejada combined to go 4 for 8 at the top of the lineup, and this time, they got tons of support, particularly in the decisive 7th inning 3 run rally. Lucas Duda and Jason Jacobs also had multi hit games, while Ezequiel Carrera (0 for 3, BB, K, .274), Joe Holden (0 for 3, K, .253) and Luis Alen (0 for 2, K, .125) took 0-fers. Edgar Ramirez was ineffective in the first inning of his first FSL start, but settled down to go 5, allowing just 4 runs (all in the first). German Marte pitched 2 scoreless innings to even his record at 3-3.

Delmarva jumped out to a 3-0 lead off Eric Beaulac, but the Gnats answered with their own 3 spot in the 2nd, tying the game. However, Jason LaVorgna did a horrific job in long relief, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks in 1.1 innings to take the loss. Beaulac was only charged with 1 ER due to Francisco Pena's 25th passed ball of the season.
The offense scattered 5 hits and 3 walks, only putting together that one big inning (3 run 2nd). Carlos Guzman (2; 0 for 4, K, .282), Nick Giarraputo (5; 0 for 3, run, BB, .244), Brad Hubbert (7; 0 for 3, run, BB, 3 Ks, .188) and Luis Nieves (9; 0 for 3, .167) all took 0-fers.

The Cyclones led 3-2 going to the 7th, but Chris Schwinden tired, allowing 3 in that 7th (overall 5, 2 earned), taking a ND. The Cyclones came back with 1 in the bottom half, then 1 in the 9th (Sean Ratliff's 2nd HR of the game), tying the score at 5, before winning it in the bottom of the 10th with a run. Kirk Nieuwenhuis continued his torrid August with 3 more hits, including another 2b and HR. He's now batting .300 on the year, and .371/.421/.557/.978 during the month of August, with 8 XBH in 70 ABs, and 4 consecutive multi hit games. Jordan Abruzzo, Sean Ratliff and Josh Satin also had multi hit games, while JR Voyles (0 for 5, K, .257), Jose Jimenez (0 for 4, RBI, 3 Ks, .270) and Juan Lagares (0 for 5, K, .273) took 0-fers.
