Reese Havens out for the season?
Over at dembrooklynbums.com, there is speculation of such. In their own words, he'll be out "for the foreseeable future". This certainly puts a crimp in any plans to convert Havens to catcher (I really doubt we'll do that after reports of the Red Sox slagging his arm trying him out behind the plate), but it shouldn't throw off projections on Havens. He should still open in St. Lucie (somewhere) in 2009. Of course, the Mets middle infield looks full with Ruben Tejada and Greg Veloz up the middle (projected for 2009). It certainly is doable, if you rotate the 3 of them between 2b, ss and DH. And there isn't a big OF class on the horizon for St. Lucie next year, so it's conceivable you could see Havens or Veloz (or maybe both) play some OF next year.
