New Orleans 9, Iowa 5
Jon Niese, much like many pitchers in the Mets system, is in uncharted territory when it comes to IP. However, until his last 2 starts, he hasn't shown many signs of faltering. In his last 2 starts, he's gone 13 innings, allowing 16 hits, 8 runs, and a 3/9 BB/K. That would be an ERA of 5.54, but he's 1-1 over those 2 starts. Niese is now up to 156.1 innings in 27 starts, 5.79 ip/gs (6.40 in AAA). He went 6 tonight, allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, but that was enough to get him a win, as the Zs put up a 6 spot in the 2nd. Eddie Kunz worked a scoreless 9th.

Binghamton 3, New Hampshire 2
Hey, I've seen this script before! Score early (2 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th), give up 2 in the 9th and hang on by the narrowest thread to win. The last 3 weeks of Mets baseball! So tonight it was Binghamton's turn. After Jose Sanchez went 8 scoreless, allowing 4 hits, Tim LaVigne came in and gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on a walk, error, and WP. Tej nitpick: You really shouldn't get a save if you enter a game up 3-0 and close it out at 3-2.
The offense had 8 hits and 2 walks, but struck out 9 times, left 6 on base, and grounded into 2 DPs (both by Mike Carp). Luis Castillo and Caleb Stewart had multi hit games, while Fernando, Carp, and Saloman Manriquez (0 for 2, K, .280) took 0-fers.

The Mets held a 5-1 lead after 5, but Oscar Melendez got hammered in relief (much the same way he was getting hammered starting) for 5 hits and 6 runs (2 earned) over 3 innings to blow that lead, and very briefly allow the Bees to go ahead 6-5, before the Mets put up 2 in the 7th to regain the lead, 7-6. However, Michael Powers blew his second save, getting touched up for 3 hits and 4 runs in the 9th.
The offense had 7 hits and 3 walks, along with 3 Bees errors, leading to 7 runs. Kyle Suire and Wilmer Flores had multi hit games, while the bottom 5 in the order were a combined 0 for 18 with 11 Ks (Welch, Zapata, Blaquiere, Zavala, Imbewer Alvarez).
