New Orleans 7, Albuquerque 8
The Zs held a 7-3 lead going to the last of the 9th, and then Eddie Kunz took the mound. And then Eddie Kunz got ripped for 5 hits and 5 runs in 0.2 innings to take the loss. Ouch.

Tobi Stoner got blitzed for 9 hits and 6 runs in just 1.1 innings tonight, as Binghamton was blown out 7-1. The bullpen did a very credible job in relief, with Eric Brown, Edgar Alfonzo and Tim LaVigne combining to allow just 4 hits and a run in 7.2 innings, but it was too big a hole to climb out of tonight for the offense.
The offense managed just 5 hits and a run tonight, with Mike Carp having 2 of the hits (including his 26th 2b). Josh Petersen (1 for 4, RBI, K, .312), Shawn Bowman (1 for 4, 2 Ks, .237) and Jose Coronado (1 for 3, .256) had the other hits. Everyone else took 0-fers.

The Mets were being no hit thru 5 innings, and then exploded for a 4 hit, 2 walk outburst in the 6th, to turn an 8-0 game into an 8-5 game, but Brahiam Maldonado struck out with the bases loaded and 2 down in the bottom of the 9th (every kids fantasy - minus the K), stranding the tying runs on base, so the comeback fell short.
Greg Veloz and Maldonado had multi hit games (Maldonado hit a 3 run homer to cap that 5 run inning), while Ezequiel Carrera (0 for 3, run, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, .270), Jason Jacobs (0 for 2, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, .235) and Joe Holden (0 for 4, K, .245) took 0-fers.
Josh Stinson gave up all 8 runs (5 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd) over 2 innings of work, taking the loss, his 2nd. Ambi Burgos started for St. Lucie (to ensure an inning of work), and K'd 2 in the inning, allowing a hit and 2 HBP. Nick Abel and Emary Frederick worked 6 outstanding innings behind Stinson, allowing just a hit, striking out 7.

Brad Holt was once again dominant, with 7 more innings, and 10 more strikeouts, but he got a tough ND, as the Cyclones fell 2-1. Holt now has 12 starts in the NYPL, 61.2 innings under his belt, and 79 Ks. But he's only 4-3 with a 1.75 era as the Cyclones woeful offense has kept him from many wins. Yury Santana got the loss, giving up a solo homer in the 9th.
Tonight, that offense managed just 2 hits, by Kirk Nieuwenhuis (1 for 4, run, 2b, 2 Ks, .298) and Jose Jimenez (1 for 3, .263).

Raul Batis was the victim of horrific defense tonight, he gave up 9 hits and 7 runs (only 1 earned) in 3.2 innings, thanks to an error by Wilmer Flores, with 2 down and a run already in. And then Batis couldn't escape the inning, proceeding to give up 6 more runs. Zach Rosenbaum came in and was equally putrid, giving up 5 hits and 5 runs (3 earned) in 1.1 innings. Manuel Alvarez finished off the game with 4 good innings in long relief, but the KMets were in too deep of a hole.
The offense, put in a 12-0 hole after 4.5 innings, rallied with 3 in the 5th, 3 in the 6th and 2 in the 8th, but came up short in the rally attempt, falling 13-8. Kyle Suire and Gabriel Zavala had multi hit games, while Wilmer Flores went 0 for 4 in addition to making that costly 6 run error. Pedro Zapata (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .224) and Doug McNulty (0 for 3, run, BB, .193) also took 0-fers.
