Savannah 2, Delmarva 3

Brant Rustich started and pitched very well for his 5 innings, allowing just 2 hits, striking out 6, but when you can only pitch so deep into games, you expose your bullpen (as we've seen throughout the system, including with the big club). And tonight, it was Junior Guerra and Jason LaVorgna who were exposed, combining to give up 2 runs (1 earned) in 1.1 innings. Guerra was charged with the BS, LaVorgan took the L.

Luis Nieves made his full season debut tonight, batting 9th and playing short, going 1 for 3. 4 of the top 5 in the order, however, took 0-fers, with a lone single by Carlos Guzman mixed in. Nick Giarraputo and Brad Hubbert had multi hit games hitting 6-7, generating a run between them (Nick scored on a Hubbert 2b). Richard Pena, Casey Craig, Sean McCraw and Joaquin Rodriguez were a combined 0 for 12, Pena drove in a run, walked and Kd twice, McCraw walked and Kd once, and Rodriguez Kd once. They're hitting .199, .284, .266 and .249 respectively.

Brooklyn 3, TriCity 4 - Game 1

Yury Santana gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 walks in 0.1 innings, taking his second loss of the season, after Jenrry Mejia failed to make it out of the 5th. Stephen Clyne, however, allowed 2 IHR to score, blowing his 2nd save of the season (in Brooklyn). Santana, however, got out of the 5th unscathed, and then created his own mess by not retiring a batter in the 6th (2 walks and a Jose Jimenez error).

The Cyclones scored 3 runs on 9 hits in the first 3.2 innings, then did not get a hit over the final 3.1 innings (sound familiar?). Kirk Nieuwenhuis and JR Voyles had multi hit games, while Seth Williams (0 for 3, BB, K, .190), and Josh Satin (0 for 3, run, K, .243) took 0-fers.

Kingsport 6, Johnson City 7

The KMets trailed 7-1 after 7 innings, then rallied for 5 in the 8th, but Rafael Fernandez and Kyle Suire both struck out with the tying run on 3rd, Fernandez' K a doubly bad one, since a sac fly would've tied the game. Fernandez took an 0-fer, 0 for 5 with 2 Ks. Gabriel Zavala, who represented the tying run in that 8th inning, also took an 0-fer, going 0 for 2 with 2 walks and a K. Fernandez has cooled off significantly, and is now hitting just .270, Zavala's hitting .248. Stefan Welch and Mike Moras had multi hit games for the Mets.

Raul Batis got jacked up for 9 hits and 5 runs (4 earned) in 4.2 innings to take his 3rd loss. Zach Rosenbaum had another miserable outing in relief, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings.
