Eric Niesen had a decent outing tonight, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings, (2 earned, Ruben Tejada error (18)), and struck out 8, continuing his vastly improved K rate post-jump to Binghamton (49 in 57.2 innings in St. Lucie (7.65 per 9), 58 in 52.2 innings in Binghamton (9.91 per 9) - although it has come with an dramatic and alarming increase in walks (16 in St. Lucie (2.50 per 9), 30 in Binghamton (5.13 per 9). Jose De La Torre took the loss, giving up a run in the top of the 9th on a hit and walk.

The Mets offense had just 5 hits and 2 walks, while going just 2 for 10 with RISP, leaving 5 on base. Josh Thole (0 for 3, .330), DJ Wabick (0 for 4, .293), and Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 4, K, .249) took 0-fers. No Met had a multi hit game.

FSL A+: St. Lucie 4/8/2, Charlotte 6/9/4

Salvador Aguilar's second FSL outing of the season went awfully, he gave up 5 runs (4 earned, Carlos Guzman error) on 6 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings to take his first loss in the FSL.

The Mets rallied late, with 3 in the 7th, but fell short, accumulating a total of 8 hits and a walk, while going 3 for 10 with RISP, leaving 8 on base. Zach Lutz (3) and Stefan Welch (2) had multi hit games, while Reese Havens (0 for 5, K, .228), Francisco Pena (0 for 4, run, .222), Brahiam Maldonado (0 for 4, RBI, 2 Ks, .247), and Seth Williams (0 for 4, .267) all took 0-fers. Maldonado is now 0 for his last 15, and 3 for his last 24. Williams is 0 for his last 14, and 6 for his last 34. Lutz has hit 11 2b, 2 3b, and 6 HR in July and August, in just 107 ABs, with a staggering line of approximately .350/.435/.590 (eyeballed). I would say the man is locked in something fierce.
