Michael Antonini and the rest of the Mets staff danced in and out of trouble tonight, escaping with a 3-2 victory, despite giving up 13 hits and 3 walks. Antonini picked up his 6th win, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Connor Robertson allowed 2 hits in his 1.2 innings, but picked up his 11th EL save.
The Mets had 12 hits and 2 walks of their own, while going 4 for 12 with RISP, and leaving 10 on base (Connecticut was 4 for 17 and left 14 on). Ruben Tejada (2), Josh Thole (3), and Mark Kiger (2) had multi hit games, every regular had at least one hit.

3 more HRs tonight for the Mets (Lutz, Welch, Maldonado), but they didn't get the pitching support, and so fell 8-5, with Salvadoro Aguilar getting pummelled for 5 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings for his 2nd loss. Manuel Alvarez put the game out of reach by giving up 3 runs in his outing.
The Mets kept on hitting, with 11 more hits and 3 walks, while going 2 for 7 (.286) with RISP, and leaving 8 on base. As I mentioned, 3 Mets hit homers, while Carlos Guzman (2), and Maldonado (2) had multi hit games. Guzman is having a phenominal finish to a breakout campaign in St. Lucie. No Met took an 0-fer.

The Gnats put up an 11 run barrage between innings 2 and 4, erasing a veyr brief 1-0 deficit and then proceeded to kick the absolute **** out of the Greenjackets. 3 players had 3 hit games, 6 overall had multi hit games, but amidst the offensive carnage, Jefry Marte had one of his worst days in pro baseball, he went 0 for 6 and committed errors 46 and 47. He was the only player to take an 0-fer. The Gnats had 17 hits and 7 walks, while going 8 for 17 (.471) with RISP, and leaving 10 on base.
Chris Schwinden was the beneficiary of the run support, he went the first 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and a run for his 9th win.

Jim Fuller got tagged for 6 hits and 5 runs in the first, and the Cyclones never mounted any serious threat, getting blown out for a rare time this season.
The Conies had 8 hits and a walk, while going 0 for 3 with RISP, and leaving 9 on base. Justin Garber (3) and Luis Rivera (2) had multi hit games, while Jordany Valdespin (0 for 4, .214), Sam Honeck (0 for 4, 4 Ks, .264), Alex Gregory (0 for 4, .271), Robbie Shields (0 for 2, K, .165), Matt Gaski (0 for 2, .220) and Juan Centeno (0 for 3, BB, .160) took 0-fers.

Armando Rodriguez made it into the 8th inning for the second straight outing, but unlike last time, he couldn't seal the deal, giving up 2 of his 4 runs in the 8th, and taking a very tough loss. His final line was pretty decent, he gave up 4 runs on 9 hits in 7.1 innings, taking his first loss of the season.
The Mets offense managed 12 hits and a walk, but were a beyond pathetic 1 for 14 (.071) with RISP, and left 9 on base. Darrell Ceciliani (3), Joe Bonfe (3), Cesar Puello (2), and Gered Mochizuki (2) had multi hit games, while James Schroeder (0 for 5, RBI (1), .143), Jeff Flagg (0 for 3, BB, K, .295), and Jon Semel (0 for 4, .212) took 0-fers.
