Collin McHugh had another strong outing tonight, scattering 3 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings while allowing a run, to pick up his 8th win of the season. Michael Powers rebounded off a nightmare outing yesterday to pick up his 15th save with a scoreless 9th inning.
The Conies offense had 8 hits and a walk in the game, but were 0-fer (0 for 8) with RISP and left 5 on base. Jordany Valdespin (2) had the lone multi hit game for the Cyclones, while Sam Honeck (0 for 2, RBI (22), BB, K, .256), and Robbie Shields (0 for 3, .174) took 0-fers. Well, St. Lucie had their game rained out, so the offense flowed north to Connecticut, where the Kingsport Mets hammered out 13 hits and drew 6 walks while going 8 for 20 with RISP, and leaving 8 on base. Darrell Ceciliani (2), Jeff Flagg (3), RJ Harris (2), and Cesar Puello (3) had multi hit games, while Alonzo Harris (0 for 5, run, BB, 2 Ks, .265), Joe Bonfe (0 for 5, run, K, .323) took 0-fers. Pedro Zapata was removed from the game after 1 AB, no reason given.
Jhonathan Torres, sadly, was knocked out of the box after 3 innings, having given up 5 in the first, he did settle in and not allow any further damage, but he did not pick up the win. Zach Rosenbaum did with 2 perfect innings of relief, and Guillaume LeDuc had his best outing of the season, finishing off the game with 4 shutout innings for his 1st save.
