EL AA: Binghamton 1/5/0, Reading 7/10/0

Brad Holt fed the Run Monster again tonight, to the tune of 7 in 5.2 innings, for his 6th EL loss. Holt's only had 4 of 10 starts in the EL that I would classify as good, 6.1 innings of 2 hit, 2 run ball on June 5th, 7 shutout innings on July 13th, 6.2 innings of 2 run ball on the 18th, and his last outing, where he gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 6 walks in 6 innings. His ERA thru 10 EL starts stands at 5.98 - it's a different world in the EL as compared to the FSL. Holt struggling is nothing to be alarmed at, it just means he needs more time at the level next season.

The Mets offense had just 5 hits, but did draw 5 walks, but were just 1 for 7 (.143) with RISP, leaving 9 on base. The only run came on Ike Davis' 9th homer, his first off a lefty since joining Binghamton, and 2nd overall (1 in the FSL). Josh Thole (0 for 3, BB, K, .339), Caleb Stewart (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .195) and Lucas Duda (0 for 3, BB, .280) all took 0-fers, there were no multi hit games.

FSL A+: St. Lucie 3/10/0, Sarasota 1/7/1

The Mets scored 1 in the 7th to tie the game, and then 2 in the 10th to win it, all against a Reds reliever. Kirk Nieuwenhuis tied the game with a single in the 7th, and then Zach Lutz stroked a go ahead RBI single in the 10th. Francisco Pena later lifted a sac fly to add an insurance run. Nieuwenhuis and Luis Rivera (2; the MiFer) had multi hit games, while Brahiam Maldonado (0 for 4, K, .256) took the only 0-fer.

Scott Shaw pitched extremely well, giving up just a run on 6 hits in 6.2 innings, but he took a ND. Manuel Alvarez picked up the win, his 4th, with 2.1 scoreless innings, and Josh Stinson picked up his 2nd FSL save with a perfect 9th.

SAL A: Savannah 0/2/0, Rome 2/7/1

Randall Delgado (Rome) went 7 innings tonight, and outside of a walk, and an error, he was perfect. Unfortunately, after he left, the Gnats managed just 2 hits and a walk, but did not score. Robert Carson, much like Kyle Allen and Jeurys Familia, is running headlong into innings he's never seen before in his life, so is on a 75 pitch count, or 5 innings, whichever comes first (which makes no sense, by the way. If he's at say 60 through 5, he's obviously been very effective, and therefore can pitch the 6th with no ill effects, but whatever...). Carson took a tough loss, allowing just a run on 6 hits in 5 innings. The offense, as I said, did nothing.

NYPL A-: Brooklyn 0/6/1, Jamestown 4/13/1

Jim Fuller, much like Robert Carson, gave up a run in 5 innings for the loss. It was Fuller's 5th in the NYPL, despite a 2.13 era, he's got a losing record (3-5). Mike Lynn (UER, Nick Giarraputo error (3)) and Erik Turgeon (2 ER) also gave up runs to ice the game.

The Conies offense managed just 6 hits, but did draw 7 walks, while going an abysmal 0 for 11 with RISP, leaving 13 runners on base. Jake Eigsti (2), had the only multi hit game, while Sam Honeck (0 for 4, BB, K, .283), Nick Santomauro (0 for 4, K, .241), Scott Grimes (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .429), and Juan Centeno (0 for 4, K, .161) all took 0-fers.

APPY R: Kingsport 4/5/1, Johnson City 2/5/2

Eduardo Aldama had his best outing of the season, giving up just a run on 4 hits in 7 innings with 10 Ks, leading the Mets to a 4-2 victory over Johnson City, though he sadly got a no decision in the game. Chris Hilliard picked up the win, allowing an UER (Cesar Puello error) on a hit in 2 innings.

The Mets offense had just 5 hits and 2 walks of their own, while going just 2 for 10 with RISP, leaving 5 on base. Darrell Ceciliani (0 for 2, run, BB, .261, HBP), RJ Harris (0 for 4, K, .276), Cesar Puello, and Juan Torres (0 for 3, K, .417) all took 0-fers. There were no multi hit games.
