This was a pitchers duel the whole way, as Joselo Diaz shone for a second straight outing (coming off a 6 ip, 3 h, 2 er, bb, 5 K outing) - going 7 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits and K-ing 5. Duaner Sanchez, on what is expected to be the front end of his first back to back in almost 2 years, threw a scoreless inning, although he threw more balls (7), then strikes (5), in his (7+5=12) total pitches. Ivan Maldonado blew the save, and the game, in the 9th. The only players with hits were Argenis Reyes and Jesus Feliciano.

Uhhhh, where do I start? Eric Brown and Edgar Alfonzo combined to allow 11 runs in 6.2 innings, and the latter got the win. Yeahhhhhhhh. It was that kind of night at Jerry Uht Park (home of the Seawolves). 2 through 6 in the Mets lineup (Garcia, Murphy, Evans, Carp, Concepcion, Coronado) went 20 for 32 with 16 runs, 4 2b, HR, 13 RBI, 2 BBs, 2 Ks. The 345 hitters for the Mets (Murphy, Evans, Carp) are batting .455, .452 and .424, after collecting 4 hits apiece tonight.

This was a close game for 8 innings, St. Lucie had an early 3-0 lead, but Ryan Coultas blew it in the 7th, and then Stephen Clyne and Steven Cheney blew UP in the 9th, combining to allow 8 runs on 6 hits, a walk and a homer. Nick Carr had a fantastic second outing, going 6 innings, allowing a run on 5 hits, walking one and striking out 6. Offensively, Ezequiel Carrera continued his torrid start, going 2 for 4 with a double and RBI, raising his average to .333. Hector Pellot and Leivi Ventura took 0-fers.

This game was never in doubt, as Columbus scored 4 in the 2nd and didn't look back, opening up an 8-0 lead after 6. Elvin Ramirez got roughed up for 5 runs in 2.2 innings, and Maikel Cleto didn't do much better, getting touched for 3 in his 3 innings of work. Offensively, Greg Veloz had a 3 run homer, but his average has sunk to .176. Francisco Pena allowed 6 SBs in 8 attempts, and also had 2 passed balls, and he went 1 for 4, so it was a rough night for the young catcher.
