New Orleans 2, Iowa 5
Adam Bostick absolutely DID NOT deserve to lose this game. He left with the score tied 2-2, and a runner on 2nd with 1 down in the 8th, his line was 7.1 ip, 5 h, 2 er, 2 bbs, k, hr - but Tim McNab allowed a 2 run homer, and that run was unfortunately charged to Bostick, putting him in line for the eventual loss. Bostick ended the day with a 3.33 era, having given up 3 earned in 7.1 innings. He threw only 85 pitches, 56 of them for strikes, and had a 9/12/1 go/ao/so ratio. He is 1-1 on the season. Not much to speak of offensively for the Zs, Gustavo Molina had 2 hits to raise his average to .292, Shawn Wooten had a homer in his 2 hits, but is hitting a paltry .133. Victor Mendez had an RBI single, his only hit, and is hitting .238. AHern (.206) and Michel Abreu (.267), among others, took 0-ters.
Binghamton 3, Portland 9
Jacob Ruckle got hammered for 8 hits and 6 runs in 4 innings, and the Trinity was held to just 2 hits as the BMets fell 9-3. The Trinity went 2 for 10 with a 2b, RBI, and 3 Ks. Jose Coronado, Nick Evans and Josh Petersen took 0-fers, and Emmanuel Garcia had the only multi hit game for the Mets, who fell to 8-6.
Fernando Martinez (cf) 1 for 3, run, 2b, RBI, K, .234

Nick Evans (1b) 0 for 4, 3 Ks, .362
Mike Carp (dh) 1 for 4, .448
Emmanuel Garcia (2b) 2 for 4, run, RBI, K, .157
Jacob Ruckle 4 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 BBs, K, HR, 4.60 era, L (1-1)
Salvador Aguilar 3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 3 Ks, 3.21 era
St. Lucie 5, Vero Beach 8
It was a see-saw affair in Vero, with the teams trading single runs until the bottom of the 7th, when recently demoted Nick Abel (5 ip, 18 era in AA) came in and imploded, giving up 3 runs in his inning of work, dooming the Mets. His season totals are now even uglier (6 ip, 13 er, 19.50 era). The teams then traded 2 run 8th innings, with Jonathan Castillo getting touched for those 2. Eric Niesen only went 4 innings today, and pitched decently, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7, but the length is a major concern. His 3 starts this season have been 5, 5 and 4 innings in length. Offensively, Lucas Duda (.339) and Michael Hernandez (.182) took 0-fers, while Luis Rivera (24 year old middle infielder) had the only multi hit game.
Ezequiel Carrera (cf) 1 for 4, run, 3b, 2 Ks, .259
Ruben Tejada (ss) 1 for 4, run, RBI, 2 Ks, .250
Lucas Duda (rf) 0 for 4, 3 Ks, .339
Jason Jacobs (1b) 1 for 3, RBI, BB, K, .333
Luis Rivera (2b) 2 for 4, 2 runs, 2b, .500
Leivi Ventura (3b) 1 for 4, run, HR, 2 RBI, .277
Eric Niesen 4 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BBs, 7 Ks, 4.50 era
Steven Cheney 2 IP, 3 H, ER, K, 8.18 era
NicK Abel IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, K, 27 era, L (0-1)
Jonathan Castillo IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 18 era
He Who Shall Not Be Named (rehab) 3 IP, H, R, 3 Ks
Savannah 1, Rome 3
Angel Calero lost, but he shouldn't have, as a pitcher's duel erupted in Rome, Georgia. Calero allowed 6 hits and 2 runs, 1 earned, over 5 innings. He walked one and struck out 8, lowering his ERA to 3.86, despite talking his second loss of the season (0-2). John Holdzkom pitched 2 perfect innings in relief, striking out a pair, lowering his ERA to 4.50, while Nick Waechter gave up a meaningless run in his inning of work, raising his ERA to 2.89. He allowed 2 hits, but struck out 2. Greg Veloz (1 for 3, BB) had the lone RBI for the Gnats, and Jake Elgsti (1 for 3, 3b) had the lone run scored. Jose Jimenez (0 for 4, .208), Francisco Pena (0 for 3, 2 Ks, .200) and Will Vogl (0 for 3, K, .167) took 0-fers.

So I said I'd be varying it up a bit to try and find a format which works, but first I wanted to get used to the paragraph/boxscore hybrid for a week or so. So which do you prefer? Just the paragraph with everything in it, or the paragraph PLUS the boxscore?

Tejesh, I love the boxscores of the games man, even though the paragraph is good too. For me both of them (and if I had to choose between the two, I'd choose the boxscore). Keep up the excelent work.
