Binghamton 5, Trenton 8
Binghamton had a 4-2 lead thru 5, but in his first outing for the Mets, Eude Brito (a LHP), got destroyed for 4 hits and 3 runs over 2.1 innings, taking the loss. Jacob Ruckle started and wasn't very good, leading after 5 innings, having given up 5 hits and 3 runs.
Mike Carp may be the hottest hitter on the planet (not named Chase Utley, that is) - he had another 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBI, and is now hitting an absurd .442/482/.727/1.210. What is very encouraging, and it's something we've pointed to for as long as the blog's been in existance, is his numbers vs LHP. Right now, he's 14 for 33, with 9 runs, 2b, 3 HR, 7 RBI vs LHP, .424/.441/.727/1.168. He was 19 for 110 vs LHP last season.
Outside of Carp, the other 2 pieces of the Trinity also had good nights. Murphy and Evans combined to go 3 for 7 with 2 runs, and a walk. Josh Petersen (0 for 4, K, .362) and Ambiorix Concepcion (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .247) took 0-fers for the Mets, who fell to 9-11.

Eric Niesen took the loss tonight, despite pitching decently over his 5 innings (6 hits and 2 runs). Tim Stronach appeared in relief and didn't provide much, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs and not retiring a batter.
Ezequiel Carrera broke out of a wicked 7 for 41 slump with 2 for 5 day, and Ruben Tejada also had 2 hits, but the Mets fell to 2-18. DJ Wabick (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .220) and Sean McCraw (0 for 4, K, .149) took 0-fers.

Angel Calero pitched very well, but got 0 runs and 4 hits for offensive support, taking a very hard loss. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 runs (2 earned), while walking 1 and striking out 4. One of the runs off Calero came on an IHR, so he pitched better then his line indicates. Jose Bierd and Julio Polanco followed out of the pen for the Gnats, who fell to 6-14 tonight.
Jose Jimenez (1 for 2, 2 BBs, .229), Francisco Pena (2 for 4, .254) and Dan Stegall (1 for 2, .197) were the only Gnats with hits.
