New Orleans 4, Omaha 12
Brian Stokes flat out. Did. Not. Have. It today. He gave up 9 hits (included a homer) and 11 earned in 3.1 innings, while walking 3 and striking out 3. What really sucks about this is that prior to this start, he was 2-1 with a 1.50 era, and now he's 2-2 with a 5.91 era. Gustavo Molina had a meaningless homer in the 9th, his average is now .288. Anderson Hernandez (0 for 3, RBI, .193), Argenis (0 for 4, .246), Chris Aguila (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .297) took 0-fers for the Zs, who fell to 11-9.
Michel Abreu (dh) 1 for 4, run, 2b, .256
Gustavo Molina (c) 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, .288

Brian Stokes 3.1 IP, 9 H, 11 ER, 3 BBs, 3 Ks, HR, 5.91 era, L (2-2), 87:54:33, 3:4:3
Binghamton 3, Trenton 8, in 13 innings
It all unraveled for Binghamton in the 13th, with Trenton putting up a 5 spot off top relief prospect Eddie Kunz. After a leadoff walk to Jose Tabata, Carp committed the first of two Binghamton errors in the inning on a force attempt at 2b. After that, Kunz allowed 2 straight singles, before a strikeout, and then another single before being relieved by Edgar Alfonzo, who allowed a grounder for a run (on which Dan Murphy made an error), a single for a run, then a K to mercifully end it.
Eric Brown (who seems to be good at conjuring up extra inning games, if you recall, he had a 22 inning game in A ball, and a 26 inning game in A ball back to back years), was pretty effective over his 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs, 1 earned, while walking 2 and striking out 3. Eddie Camacho (3) and German Marte (2) pitched next, then Eddie Kunz (1) before the meltdown 13th inning.
The Duo (boy that doesn't have the same ring to it) went a combined 0 for 10 with 2 Ks, as Nick Evans got his first day off of the season. In addition to them, Jose Coronado (0 for 5, BB, K, .300) and Jonathan Malo (0 for 5, 2 Ks, .125) took 0-fers. Binghamton fell back under .500, at 9-10.
Fernando Martinez (cf) 2 for 6, 2b, .262
Dan Murphy (3b) 0 for 6, K, .387
Mike Carp (1b) 0 for 4, BB, .425
Emmanuel Garcia (ss, 2b) 3 for 5, run, RBI, .227, CS (1)
Josh Petersen (lf) 4 for 5, 2 RBI, K, .395
Eric Brown 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, ER, 2 BBs, 3 Ks, 6.05 era
Eddie Camacho 3 IP, 2 Ks, 1.26 era
German Marte 2 IP, H, K, 1.69 era
Eddie Kunz 1.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BBs, 2 Ks, 5.19 era
St. Lucie 1, Palm Beach 3
Another game, another loss for the SMets, who fell to a ridiculous 2-17, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Cardinals. Starter Nick Carr took the loss, going 5 innings, allowing 9 hits and 3 runs, to fall to 0-2, with a 5.79 era. He walked two and struck out 4. Matias Carrillo (2.2 ip, 3 h, 2 bb, 2 k) and Roy Merritt (0.1 ip) rounded out the pitching. Offensively, Ezequiel Carrera continued a long slump (7 for his last 41; 1 for 5, K today), and Ruben Tejada took an 0-fer for a second straight game. I suppose we should expect alot of feast/famine from the top 2 in the order, considering they were in Brooklyn and the VSL/GCL last year. Brahiam Maldonado (0 for 4, .197), Hector Pellot (0 for 3, BB, K, .180), Josh Thole (0 for 3, BB, K, .205), Leivi Ventura (0 for 3, BB, 2 Ks, .230) and Michael Hernandez (0 for 3, BB, K, .160) all took 0-fers for the Mets, who only had 5 hits.
Lucas Duda (1b) 1 for 3, BB, .360
DJ Wabick (dh) 3 for 4, run, 2b, .236
Nick Carr 5 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 2 BBs, 4 Ks, L (0-2), 5.79 era
Savannah 3, Charleston 6
John Holdzkom gave up 3 in the 8th, leading to Savannah's 14th loss of the season, 6-3. He allowed 3 hits and a walk over 0.1 innings. Elvin Ramirez started, and was impressive, but only went 4.2 innings due to the pitch count limit. He allowed a hit and walk, while striking out 6. Nick Waechter blew a 3-0 lead by allowing 1 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th.
Richard Lucas (0 for 3, BB, .230), Jordan Abruzzo (0 for 3, BB, .457), Greg Veloz (0 for 3, K, .209), and Dan Stegall (0 for 4, RBI, K, .188) all took 0-fers, while WIll Vogl was the only Gnat with a multi-hit game.
Matt Bouchard (ss) 1 for 5, run, 2b, K, .169
Jose Jimenez (1b) 1 for 4, RBI, K, .221
Francisco Pena (c) 1 for 3, run, BB, .237
