Eddie Kunz blew just his 3rd save of the season today, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk in the 9th, suffering his 4th loss, as the BMets fell 5-4. That negated a decent outing from Salvador Aguilar, he'd given up 3 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings, but took the ND.
A rare night off for Mike Carp, he went 0 for 4, but did drive in his 44th run of the season, and more importantly, he did not strike out in lowering his average to .356. Jon Malo, who's been raking in June, also had a rare night off, going 0 for 3, RBI, K, .248. Nick Evans continued his hot hitting with 2 more hits, he's 17 for his last 44 with 7 XBH, and has 4 straight multi hit games (9 for 18 in that span). He pitched a good game for Brooklyn, going 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 UER, picking up his 4th win overall, obviously his first in Brooklyn. Roy Merritt, who also started the season in St. Lucie (only pitching 7.2 innings), appeared in relief and struck out 4 of the 8 batters to face him. Rhiner Cruz picked up the save.
Four players, John Servidio (0 for 3, run, RBI, K, .167), Josh Satin (0 for 4, K, .000), Michael Parker (0 for 4, K, .000) and Cesar Cordido (0 for 4, RBI, K, .286) took 0-fers, while Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Zach Lutz and Eric Campbell, trying to form their own Trinity (they're as old or older then the Binghamton Trinity, it ain't happening), went 6 for 11 batting 234 in the order.
