6/19 Minor League Report! STONER, TEJADA, ANTONINI, CLETO!

Willie Collazo had a decent outing today, going 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, but his offense did nothing for him, so he took his 4th loss of the season.

The offense managed just 4 hits and 1 run, the run coming off Gustavo Molina's bat, a solo shot in the 8th. 4 different players had hits, 4 others went 0-fer, Anderson Hernandez (0 for 4, K, .182), Chris Aguila (0 for 4, 2 Ks, .302), Raul Casanova (0 for 3, K, .382) and Raul Gonzalez (0 for 3, .333)

Binghamton 3, Erie 2

Tobi Stoner was in line for his first AA win, until Tim LaVigne stepped onto the mound in the 9th, with a 2-1 lead. LaVigne allowed a solo homer, blowing the save and denying 420 his first AA win, despite a very good game (6 ip, 5 h, er, 5 k). Eric Brown and Eude Brito pitched in between Stoner and LaVigne.

Mike Carp, after terrorizing the EL for the first half of June, is now 0 for his last 8, dropping his average 12 points to .350. In fact, the top 3 in the Bingo order (Reed (.250), Evans (.302), Carp (.350)) went 0 for 12. Josh Petersen (.327) and Emmanuel Garcia (.213) also took 0-fers, both going 0 for 3. The offense came out of the middle 3 batters, Stewart, Concepcion and Manriquez went a combined 7 for 10 with 3 runs, 2 2b, a HR and 2 RBI.

Ruben Tejada had a breakout game in St. Lucie, getting on base 5 times in 6 trips with 3 singles, a homer, and walk. For the month of June, Tejada is hitting .360/.411/.475 (22 for 61, 2 2b, 3b, HR, 7 RBI, 5/5 BB/K, 2/2 SBs). Ezequiel Carrera was on base twice, with a single and homer, so the top of the lineup did it's job. Lucas Duda, out of the 3 hole, broke out of a month long slump with 2 hits and a walk. The three of them combined to score all 5 Met runs. Victor Mendez and recently promoted catcher Jordan Abruzzo had the other 2 RBI.

All this was in back of Michael Antonini, who earned his first high A win with 6.2 terrific innings, allowing just 4 hits and a run, while striking out 6.

Savannah held a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 8th, on the strength of another outstanding Maikel Cleto outing (7 ip, 4 h, er, 4 bb, 5 k), but Nick Abel, aided and abetted by a Greg Veloz error (his 13th), blew the save in the 8th. Steven Chenry worked 2 innings, giving up a run in the bottom of the 10th, but the Gnats held on for a 5-4 win.

The first 7 hitters had at least one hit, but the bottom 2 (Bradley Hubbert and Jacob Elgsti (.239)) went a combined 0 for 8, Hubbert struck out twice in his A debut. Gnat hitters struck out 12 times in the game.

Guillaume Leduc's season debut left alot to be desired, he got roughed up for 5 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in just 2.1 innings. Thomas Paredes second relif outing didn't go much better then his first, he gave up a run in 0.2 innings. Phillips Orta, piggybacking on Leduc, pitched 3 effective innings, giving up just a hit, but walking 4 while K'ing 5. Stephen Puhl and Jason LaVaorgna finished off the disasterous game.

The Mets offense was held to just 7 hits, and 4 players took 0-fers. Imbawer Alvarez (0 for 5, K), Pedro Zapata (0 for 3, BB, .167), Michael Moras (0 for 4), and Doug McNulty (0 for 3). Dan Stegall had the only multi hit game.
